Considering cheaper subscription/transfer for 6 of 7 characters

Hey guys, I'm in a bit of a dilemma and I need some input on it. Currently, I'm using the 8 characters per server service and I have 7 characters on one server (Faerie). I'm not going to make or play with any more characters other than my current seven. Playing each character turned out to be more time consuming than I thought, which each going through the same story, quests, levequests, each using more than one class and such. So I think the 1 server per character option might work best for me.

What I liked about having them on the same server was having them all on the same selection screen. How can I do that when it's one character per server? I'm also aware that the transfer serve is $18 per transfer (which is ridiculous. I could understand the service being $18, but per transfer? I could transfer 6 of them to different servers, though that's going to cost me $108 apparently.

What should I do and what servers would you recommend.

You can't have the all-on-one selection screen if they are on different servers since it only displays characters for your last selected server.

I think you should just stay the course if you are going to play that many characters. It will take 3 years of playing on the standard subscription for it to cost as much as all the transfers.

Well, not quite all listed together, but if you choose servers that are all in the same Data Center, you can switch which server's character(s) are shown with just changing it in a drop-down list in the character selection page, without having to back all the way out to the "Start" / "Select Data Center" page.

Yeah, really doesn't seem worth it if it would involve moving so many. Would moving one or two of your higher leveled (or more broadly developed) characters and re-creating a few of your newer or less-developed characters from scratch be a viable way of spreading them out to different servers? Or are you too invested in each of your current ones to re-start them?

Six of them are over 15, so there was a level of investment with them. But I have one character that's a 10. I might delete that character and remake her in Heavensward, since the machinist class would be more suitable than the current thaumaturge class. However, I have no idea how the expansion will impact the current game.

You DO know you can freely change classes past level 10, so there's no need to make alts right?

In this game you can have all role and class in one character, there is no need for you to create many of it. This game is more about main class than a main character/toon. If you want a different appearance better you buy a fantasia instead.
If your level is below 20 I'm prefer you to create new character, no need to transfer server.
From what I've heard and experience, leveling in this game is fast and easy for battle class (my progress is slow because I only play for 1-2 hours per day)
And BTW your mount and pet in this game is not account wide.

You would not want to have 8 chars on diff servers would you..? That's a bit strange. Its 2$ more to have 8 of them per server so I dont see an issue. As other people stated you can have all classes on one char so you dont need so many char anyways.

How do you mean? Is it simply a "sunk cost" deal where you feel you've worked too hard on them to give them up? I doubt it's anything you can't easily obtain on the one you wish to make your main.

for Job requirements you will need to learn and train at least one other class to level 15, if not 2 for cross class abilities, on one character anyways. so the time invested will need to be done again, that's why many choose to not have too many toons.
