    Ul'dah's "mini-calamity"?

So rumor is that Ul'dah may be getting a mini-calamity soon due to certain a certain event in 2.5 Part 2 storyline.

If this is true, how much do you think Ul'dah may change in 3.0?

    For me..

It would be interesting if they made Ul'dah a bit bigger, giving us access to higher locations of Ul'dah we original could not go due to not being high enough in their society standards.

Quite off the rim but if Ul'dah falls, say some extreme civil war breaks out and destroys good portions of the city (alchemy devastation, again, and mage fire), we move into the relic mage home Sil'dih. It could be a fun change of scenery, a magic city underground, and offer a nice long transition period (patch(s) that clean up the area overtime, since you'd need to deal with the zombies and what have you). The loyal Immortal Flame and portion of the THM guild moving to help resurrect the city.

Scrapping that some visual updates here and there to make Ul'dah more opulent as it is said to be rich, and moving the/an aetheryte into the market ward, would be nice. Like some of the spires and extra items in the concept art:

they'll probably just adjust it to be more aesthetically pleasing and a bit more convenient to navigate

I don't think it's likely that Ul'dah is going to see any significant changes.

New characters will still need the current Ul'dah to be like it is for their quests.

is there any point where, other than fixed landmarks, the geography and appearance of Ul'Dah is at all relevant to any quest?

Even if it isn't, any new player that reached the 2.55 storyline would need to see changes to Ul'dah.

It's not like every new player gets to see Revenant's Toll as it was at launch, so why can't Ul'dah be the same? Keeping the entire world completely static is going to get old real fast.

Revenant's Toll has things being added to it and as of yet we never got anything from the storyline saying that a big change happened there. It wouldn't be an issue if the same thing was done to Ul'Dah with new areas being added to it. But some of the current parts being blasted away and getting heavily redesigned? Not impossible, but also not likely imo.

Yes we have. The details of Revenant's Toll's expansion are explained in the 2.1 patch story as something happening as a direct result of the Scions' move from Ul'dah, not to mention there have been a number of small quests throughout the post-game story that touch on the ongoing construction efforts. We current players get to see the changes over time, but new players will never get see why construction was ever necessary.
