Final Fantasy (the series) was never an easy game, yet noone was whineing to nerf it down! Noone asked Squaresoft to fix a bossfight so they can beat it! They practiced and eventually won.

So I really don't see a difference, because I payed for FFXIV and I knew what I payed for (and still pay for) so NO, I won't let whiney kids or lazy adults make SE nerf it down to their lvl just because they cant beat every boss or content in the game!

I'm not perfect eighter, I havent beated every content, but instead of whineing, I practice (when I have time) with friends, guild, PF, and become better at it!

Actually I really don't understand why do people think they must beat every boss in FFXIV (or every NPC in Triple Triad) and if they are not skilled enough then SE has to nerf that content down to their skill level!

I just want to protect FFXIV from halfwits who wish to get this great game nerfed down even more, and more!

Lol! If kids can't understand the quest text they really should be doing schoolwork and not playing games. Literacy is sexy children!

Well for starters the game is easier than ff xi ever was.. soloing is a casual gamer's bread and butter. XIV is way more soloable than XI by far. And as for those casuals who do start playing 14.. easy.. they are gone by the end of the free month.. moved on to bigger better things.. or upgrade from casual to player with a shiny new sub.. peace

normal people can't understand this nonsense, we're not all hardcore English majors, we shouldn't have to look up guides on Merriam-Webster made by elitist English majors on how to understand the game. Please use http://simple.wiktionary.org/wiki/Main_Page in the future thanks.
    Lol guides.

    & Orspeth post.

The text in this game sucks for me personally. I understood it as well, but I am not one to play the Divinci Code in every single text and use context clues constantly.
I notice they use "Mayhap..." a lot.
I haven't been out of High School for that long but I don't recall seeing this much.... type of text unless I was reading poems from Edgar Allen Poe. Very annoying.
They have not taught up this type of writing so can't really blame anyone. English is the best of my studies but Jesus I can't tolerate it in this game haha.
Limnsa's thick accent hurt my brain so much I usually skip every text. The ROG people are easier to understand at least.

This game is FAR from hard. People are confusing difficulty with grind. It's the grind the makes the game heavy. This game is the easiest ff. Hard to me was last zodiak from FFXII.

What are people asking to be made easier? Cause the hardest part of FFXIV is finding 7 players who aren't complete derps.

I think the best route forward is the idea of splitting off the player base into content brackets that suit their skill level. (Like what's happening with Normal/Hard Alexander).

It's clear that mixing the experienced and the new people together in the same content just creates drama. People need to be with players on their own level, whatever that may be.

FFXIV's difficulty is shallow at best operating/relying entirely on coordination and memorization. Coil is relatively controllable with only a single party to manage - especially since the majority of people entering Coil are in a static group dedicated to working on content together while using voice chat - contrast this with the haphazard environment of a Duty Finder Alliance raid and you tell me - which is more difficult?

Trying to get a large group of people focused is far more difficult - even if the mechanics are more forgiving & less intense - large group encounters can end up being vastly more difficult & time consuming.

I miss the days of content aimed towards Guilds working together in large groups...

    *Walks in*

... I swear there was a thread just like this. Probably because it leaked into this thread...

    Anyway:

As someone else already said, it should cater to both. Not lean towards one side or the other. From a business stand point, any subscription is more money into their pockets, so they want to do what they can to appeal to as many players as possible, both hardcore and casual. Hardcores want a challenge, and stuff like the Binding Coil of Bahamut does that. Older content gets dumbed down for the casuals because they too would like to experience the story, but it's still notably not that easy.

SE has been doing this for this game for as long as I've played it. I don't see them changing it any time soon. It's just something you're going to have to get used to~

*Pulls out a lawn chair and grabs some lemonade in case the thread goes down the direction I think it's going*
