Why is it even called the Zodiac Braves to begin with? The actual legends of the Zodiac Braves are not expanded upon, we know nothing about them, the lore of the weapons are hardly ever mentioned if not for one line of text. Are we actually following in their footsteps? Those "books" offered no insight into them whatsoever.

They really should stop insulting/tarnishing FF:Tactics

Call it for what it is: The Ultimate Craftsman's Quest to Make a Relic. Boring and Generic title for a boring and generic quest. To those defending the storyline please stop.
    Actual Zodiac Braves

Pretty much this is what exasperates my problems with the questline. Once you finish the initial relic (a weapon that closely relates to your job, and has a good amount of lore behind it), the entirty of the lore gets backpeddled when you meet the scholar NPC (whom I now shall refer to as the douche-bag scholar) whose name I can't even be bothered to remember because he has so very little relevance to the actual weapons.

Gloats about Atmas giving your weapon new strength, when it still has the stats of an ilvl90. Only until you get animus books does the stats increase...which are supposed to follow the exploits and brave deeds of the zodiac braves themselves (and I doubt they went and slaughtered modern day garlean vangaurds...).

Then he goes on about turning our weapons to be the very same ones that the Zodiac braves use...but we don't even know who they are. The most we get is two sentences which may not even contain a stellar feat or is lacking context.

If there was one NPC I want to toss off the holocharts, it'd be douche-bag scholar. Ugh.

You can't do that, because Nael will be healed by the damage taken and make your T9 clear that much harder.

He's gonna be healing Nael with ilvl 130 equips that have the stats of ilvl50. He'll get one shot'd by a Jump.

To the original question. Relics are historically a grind fest. Whether dodging lightning in FFX or collecting coins and such in FFXI.

If you can't get a great weapon with skill, you can get it with time.

Mythics in FFXI were the same way.. as were Abyssean weapons.

Your not required to do them, but if you want it, you put in your time.

It's entirely another to give us a checklist of random, boring, unchallenging crap and tell us to hop to it...
Perhaps you missed the memo that pointed out that this is one of three paths to upgrade your weapon, and was/is designed to be a long grind - to represent the long path towards upgrading such a special weapon as the relic. It's also designed for players who do not raid, so that they can upgrade their relics simply by playing the game over time, rather than by engaging in specific end-game content such as the Coils, or EX mode primals.

If it's such a boring grind, don't do it, and instead go for one of the other options.

Perhaps you didn't read the remainder of the thread.

Alternative options don't excuse this option for being bland, uninspired and clearly done better in other MMOs.

Your opinion not withstanding, it was my understanding that the relic quests were designed to be a time sink and grind. The fact that there are multiple options available means that it's not necessary for all options to be appealing to all players. As for being bland, uninspired and/or clearly better done, those are quite subjective assessments and not facts.

So are the opinions of people who have rabidly apologized for the horrible implementation of the questline.

I realize there is a breed of person that revels in boredom. I'm not one of those people. For an MMO that does nearly everything else better than WoW, it surprised me that the relic questline was such utter shit in comparison to WoW's.

So you enjoy boredom. Good for you. I'd say your opinion is noted, but I don't care about your opinion. No one is going to say "BUT I LIKE BOREDOM!" and make me say, "Gee, maybe I should start liking it, too...".

The relic questline could've been an epic, fun, amazingly-storied section of the game. Instead, it's a weak attempt to force max level players to supplement old content.

If you disagree, that's fine, but don't expect me or the 65+ players who liked the OP to care.
