while i sympathize it really speaks to how much regardless of any development team and despite of the great work SE has done, they really don't listen to tank players

people always get on me when i say that tanking is the most irresponsible one dimensional role of the trinity and is a glorified melee dps. and really, it is fine to dispute that thought - but you can't really dispute the fact that the meaning or value of action of a tank is so heavily diminished/unimportant in comparison to other roles. you are barely doing something no one else can do and as long as you don't die it really doesn't matter what you do because you contribute so little.

Frequently players ask why tanks have to pull everything, why it is always speed run this, speed run that. and as difficult as it is for them to wrap their mind around it even though the answer is plain as day - it all comes down to fun.

it is not fun for things to die at a very slow speed. it is not fun to have my ability to mitigate heavy incoming damage and recovery from spike damage wasted on mindless droning. it also does not help that CT ST and WoD all have very stale, rehashed designs for tanks we have seen throughout a decade of encounter design.

yes those players should stop being lazy, but i can't really blame them for wanting a more prominent role in these types of raids. we can however blame them for dragging down an entire team because they didn't win the threat fight.

I don't think I have ever failed to clear either ST or WoD, once on Labyrinth not due to groups but because I had to leave and log off before could finish. I have wiped a couple times in WoD, couple wipes in labyrinth, maybe couple times in ST but overall never really had any major problem clearing any.

While it is true I sometimes end up kiting adds because tanks are focused completely on the larger mobs in trash or just the boss...I don't really mind doing so, not worth crying over in my opinion if I am kiting for a little while since normally the tanks mob will die and they will be forced to pick up others or get told off. I try helping them when kiting by circling the tank with the mob so it is never far out of the tanks reach even if he or she is currently ignoring it or by time they get around to it I have already killed the mob was kiting.

I would however like it if tanks would try to tank the caster and ranged mobs more since they cannot be kited so easily but not the end of the world if they don't. Worst case scenario though is I die, get resurrected and then pop battle voice followed by MP regen to make up for the resurrection cost from the healer. That though is very rare so overall I have to say I have not experienced such things discussed in this thread anywhere near the level some are claiming happens to them.

In my experiences wipes are rare, forced to kite...sure on occasion but not so often I will moan about it personally and other than the one time I chose to leave before finished, I have never failed to finish any of them. People make mistakes a lot but they rarely lead to wipes in my experience. As long as clear the content then I don't care much about mistakes, the rare wipe or if takes longer to clear than is potentially possible. As long as it does get cleared that is all I care about, everything else is background noise, not important, not worth raging about in my opinion.

It's funny that the "happy" unicorn mount, or mounts in general are brought up, because I think that's one of the main issues so many people are facing for duties. People want the new shiny toys Square releases and they're willing to be something they don't like so they can earn it. Remember all those threads of people whining about not getting loot and others saying "go roll as the required class if you want loot that badly?"

....Well guess what people are doing for those mounts? I bet even PvP has had a surge of "bad" players due to everyone wanting that ADS mount.

It's almost a necessary evil; without those mounts or other incentives to keep people playing old content or getting people to try new classes, those queue times would be measured in years, not minutes.

Yup. pretty much exactly what I stated on the last page.

In all honesty, I wish that these mounts were in the Mog store. That way people have options - either earn them or buy them. If I saw my unicorn in the Mog station (did I mention before what a stupid looking mount that is?) and people started buying it and riding it, I would not be hurt. So what? I'd rather that play go buy the mount than make the rest of our party suffer because they want it badly enough to play a class they suck at to get it.

The only time I ever say "no" to mounts being available in the cash shop is if they are symbols of special cases, such as preorder mounts, etc that we pay extra for preorder for. I play another MMO that pissed a lot of people off because they started selling all of the preorder stuff in the cash shop, and then they wondered why no one preordered their expansion. LOL.

But yeah, putting these mounts up in the Mog station would alleviate SOME of the issues, but most of this issue still stems from "I don't want to wait for queue so I am going to troll people who actually care about being a team by queuing up with them." Anyone who does that really is a troll, and if I am ever a party leader of a party and I catch on to that . . . auto-kick. And we should not be afraid to vote kick people who show the obvious signs of "I'm here because of reasons other than to play my class". This especially goes for healers who think they are DPS. Those drive me nuts.
