Chocobo racing question.

So has there been any info about it. What I want to know is it more like Mario Kart where you actually control your chocobo and race people, or is it more like FFXI where you just watch a cutscene of chocboos racing and the game picks the winner.

They have said that you will be able to control them, as to being like MK we have to wait and see.

It's not impossible but I seriously doubt we're getting something as awesome as Mario Kart. From the recent transcript it looks like we'll get stuff like boosts and traps on the course but I'm not expecting a full blown game.

It would be like expecting Triple Triad to be Heartstone (which I'm sure some people expect too).

Lower latency players will win, simple as that.

the same as mario kart i would think an invisible ghost and who ever has the lowest ping to the ghost has a higher chance of winning

in mario kart the ghost uses the internet to connect to a closer net work and allow the data too be updated far more quickly, this ghost is both local and server side, you can see the ghost in action if you see someone like slipping of the side defaulting to the middle of the track then speeding off, if there ping is lower then the ghosts then there driving will update in real time, if it is lower they will be a ghost player :3

raise stats and learn abilities, breed to pass on those traits. At first you can only breed with your
own bird or cpu birds.

Racing: your chocobo will automatically move forward, you will control direction (though they said
there will be some inertia to get used to in steering), and will be able to use stamina for a boost.
there are boost pads, and negative boost pads, and items to collect to use during the race.

They also said something about being classes for your chocobo to move through and that you cant
race against lower classes. I hope that doesn't stop you from racing your friends though.
