In the F2P mmo Perfect World you get a Fairy that flies around behind you where ever you go. While that game can get boring, that is one of the parts of the game I really thought was well thought out and added some very cool ability's to the game. You could customize them, they leveled up and you spent the points on different ability's. Some were healing spells for you or offensive. Some were things like stat boosts and well more than I could explain. But the point is you had control of the spells they are equipped with. I think something along the same or similar theme would rock with my own personal moogle. Not to far out an idea. FFXI had the adventuring buddy. Had mine up to like lv 65+ was very useful tho they needed to be able to be called in more places not just half of the game zones. Im thinking along the lines of everywhere, nowhere should be off limits.
It is better to be pissed off than pissed on.
Well it's obvious every FF uses them in some way.. FFXIV is the only one (I think) that makes them more exclusive. Makes them feel more special.Moogles are also heavily involved in the upcoming Final Fantasy Zero for PSP. FFXI had them take care of your Mog House and with special events. Every Final Fantasy repeats the usage of them in some form. Just because XIII-2 has an NPC Moogle that follows you around doesn't imply anything else except that they are making good use of them (i.e. Moogle Mail). FFXIV on the other hand, simply has them hidden away for nobody to see except in cut-scenes.
Moogles need to have a deeper role, not even my particular suggestions, just much more involvement similar to what I proposed would be fine with me.
And these devs aren't idiots, they will more than likely show moogles to everyone during bigger/near end story quests..or special quests. Who knows.
I still think our poor lonely npc companions should be given more attention..
I don't think FFX even had any Moogles (I think they only had Dolls and one dressphere in FFX-2 that resembled a moogle)Well it's obvious every FF uses them in some way.. FFXIV is the only one (I think) that makes them more exclusive. Makes them feel more special.

I thought they should've been given more attention too, but I just don't care for them much. Moogle companions would just be way better imo. I don't perceive our devs to be idiots at all, I just want them to know that they have a perfect resource for a proper companion system that seems to be getting no attention (Moogles).Well it's obvious every FF uses them in some way.. Not quite. Moogles weren't in FF1, FF2, or FF4 at all. They were uncommon in FF6 (you run into them a few times around Narshe, and one joins your party, but to the world at large they're quite rare). They're fictional and only show up as toys in FF7, FF8, and FF10. They're very common sights in FF3, FF9, and FFXI. I haven't played FF12 and FF13. But throughout the series, moogles seem (to me, at least) to have been a rare sight more often than a common sight.Well it's obvious every FF uses them in some way.. Ok ok so Moogles weren't in every FF (sheesh I didn't know that). They *were* in all the ones I played though..in some form or another.
But this proves that moogles are still a rarity, and makes them all the more special to see them exclusively. If I saw moogle companions being implemented, I wouldn't cry, but I'd think "eh they coulda picked something else".
I want the moogles to be more like in classical Final Fantasys.
My Idea would be (some of these points are planned yet):
Mail System
Read, write and send letters to other players. And the possibility of sending items. You can check your messages via a Moogle. (like in offline Final Fantasys)
Linkshell leaders have the ability to send messages to all members.
Nomad Moogles
Placing nomad/backpacker Moogles at almost every camp, outposts and in every major city.
they sell also some grocery items like potions, arrows and stuff. maybe repair items as well?
you can also check your mails at a nomad moogle.
In addition, they should be there to store your items. It's like a wandering storage.
Like the situation is now you cant store that much items in your inventory, storing items at your moogle gives you the oportunity to obtain the right equipment at almost every outpost for the class you switched directly to. because the inventory is very limited and mostly full.
Therefore, a traveling Moogle would be very useful. (and for atmosphere as well^)
Express Mail (like AION offers, i think it was a wonderful idea)
(not a must-have)
To send standard Mails is free of charge
Are you in a hurry .. the right potions are not ready and the raid is imminent you can receive express mail wherever you are.
To send "Express Mail" though is associated with a fee.
When a player receives a special (express) delivery, a tone will ring and an icon in the upper corner will appear. If he clicks on this, a Wandermoogle will come over wherever he is and delivers personally the message or item to him
(e.g. like in AION)
Express mail in AION (would be delivered by a nomad moogle, whe can see in many offline FF's)
but some of your ideas are also really nice (and similiar)

Wow, that's awesome! I didn't know AION did express mail that way. Moogles would look so much better doing it too. I love the Nomad Moogle breakdown too, which elaborates so much better about my quick mention of NPC Moogles placed around certain camps/gates. Moogles should at the least be handling all of your proposed ideas if not as companions.I want the moogles to be more like in classical Final Fantasys.

I understand what you mean about the charm of having them be hidden and visually esoteric, but they are still too insignificant in the scope of what a huge FF MMO could do with them. They could have given them a whole culture and background. Chocobos were given the same lack of attention, and this was just fixed recently (with more to come still).Ok ok so Moogles weren't in every FF (sheesh I didn't know that). Avoiding Moogle overkill is something I'm weary of as well. My main goal is to throw as many ideas out there as possible to the devs in hopes that the best will stick. I'll be uber happy if even 1/4 of these ideas were taken into consideration (doesn't have to be all of them of course). It's up to the designers/devs to implement Moogles properly given our suggestions...
i.e. Don't simply make a simple UI-driven mail system, make it a Moogle Mail system with free regular or express Nomad Moogle delivery!
