    Sorry for the late reply.
I believe you might have misunderstood. My intention was not to suggest that moogles should replace linkshells, as linkshells are a staple of the FF MMO community. My idea centers more around making moogles the primary means of player to player connections in terms of items and personal messages (outside of LS chat). For example, a moogle can list items that players within a linkshell or free company wish to offer other players within their shell/company.

A concrete example of this: Say I'm leveling miner. I get 5 stacks of alumen but I have absolutely no use for it. A member of my linkshell is in the process of leveling alchemy, and needs a stack of alumen to grind from 11-20. He expresses this need in LS chat, and I post my 99 alumen in my LS market tab for a convenient price of 500g. The alumen are worthless to me, as I would either NPC them for 4-5k a stack or have them sit in my retainer until I could clear bazaar space. This removes the inconvenience of having to travel face to face to a player to trade simple items. Players outside of the linkshell are unable to see my alumen in their linkshell markets, so this will encourage teamwork within player factions.

The developers seem to be striving to tie crafting and gathering in with regular, battle oriented gameplay aspects. While I think this is a ridiculous and impossible goal by nature, this system will give crafters and gatherers a new sense of togetherness that will not rely on PvE battle balancing and players "needing" a certain DoH/DoL class leveled to progress through content. Rather, it will simply enhance the ability for items to change owners and be put to good use.
Great explanation; sorry for misunderstanding (I had a feeling that's not what you were getting at). I love how you covered the importance of creating a sense of togetherness using the Moogle system, not to mention how easy it makes it for players to use the feature saving on travel time/anima to complete small tasks like sharing items with LS mates. In a sense, Moogles could be our "Social Networking System" in this particular area of Moogle Companionship. This really needs to make it to SE's eyes/ears... it's just too good not to be implemented.
