wow I bring up my Wife once after asking her if a guy in a skirt is sexy and now that's the main thing y'all are focusing on, these are my views she wants no part of this, I just asked her a question, and now y'all are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Although, it is kind of weird women get to share a lot of men's clothing, so I could understand men wanting to look sexy. But then comes in the definition of what do women think is sexy about a man? What do men think makes them feel sexy? Then cue a thread of someone complaining because it isn't their marginal view of what makes a man look sexy.

Well it could have been anyone there was no real reason to bring her in the conversation. To me you pretty much used her opinion to say 'my wife doesn't like it therefor no woman ever will'. No harm wanted to your wife, you just really put it in a bad way to me. It's like kids who says 'my mom said I looked cool', everyone have their opinion.

But it's a video game, who care about social norm concerning clothes in a video game? We can have our characters running around in underwears, and i'm fairly certain if you tried that irl you'd end up with more problems than if it was a skirt.
People really need to learn to not care about what doesn't directly concern them. You don't want your char to wear a skirt? Don't. Don't want to see people wearing them? Close your eyes, look away and take some distance, this little pixaled person won't hurt yours.

My character in a thong looks pretty damn nice, he would rock a chippendale/bunny outfit. Unless people who are attracted by men really only like them in suits?
Bunny ears look as ridiculous on male than female anyway, it's the whole playboy fact that makes it sexy. But people seem to block on associating bunny with men, add ears or not it doesn't change that much imo.

This idea of trying to apply real world equality to a game needs to stop. Developers are allowed to purse designs if thier own choosing in thier game.

I see no problem with requests being made of devs, the problem I see is these requests are often made under threats that by not meeting the demands, the developers are harming the players way of life or even infringing on their rights.

This is ridiculous because the developers are not restricting one set of people in any way. If you like the female clothes and they are not available on males, you have the ability to make a female character like every other player. No rights or ways of life are being infringed by SE by not meeting all of these silly social demands in the name of equality.

Perhaps slightly (I certainly do not think I can ever achieve sexiness as a Lalafell─another reason we're the master race, we appeal with our hearts!), but there's really no problem with people wanting the same thing for sexiness. It just underlines that there's more to wanting equality in clothing availability!

No, the discussion of "what is sexy" isn't relevant, nor is whether or not it is a social norm or not. It's also not a social norm for women to be wearing men's clothing, and depending on your country, it's also not a social norm for two men or two women to be wed to one-another. FFXIV, being an international game, does not need to abide by social norms and thankfully, does not. However, it does cater more to the female characters, without allowing men the option to crossdress.

And please─keep hateful rhetoric about homosexuality out of this. That is not what this thread is about.

The rhetoric here is interesting but I don't see how this is even related to this thread. We're/I'm asking for men to be given the ability to wear dresses and bunny outfits as I don't feel they should be exclusive to females. Not a single word was breathed about threats and demands. No one's talking about real world social equality. This is a petition for an online game, not a list of demands for the sake of humanity.

Please try to stay on-topic instead of derailing the thread by pretending this is about anything other than wanting to wear dresses and bunny outfits as male characters.

Although in this particular case, no one's saying "we want the identical outfit that the women get." We're saying "we don't like it when men get one new outfit and women get two." Most of us won't have any problem if it was the exact same appearance of it, of course, but on the same side I think most would be just as fine if we had a male version of it. In other words, a bunny suit that emphasizes the male body the way the female bunny suit emphasizes the female body.

I actually wouldn't mind a chippendale outfit with bunny ears/tail. Why? I can walk all beautifully through the streets of Ul'Dah and turn heads with my sheer aura of masculinity.
