HAKUNA MATTATA
Nothing official, but I heard a rumor from E3 that they are talking about December, but personally I think that's about 6 months too soon.
Other than that the only thing I heard was one of Square's executives bemoaning that if they hadn't purchased Eidos they would look like a complete joke of a company; and he's worried about how Square [inferring] will learn to produce quality titles again.
http://twitter.com/#!/tah3gucci3cozy...23178252435456On the way to an E3 dinner, Square Enix exec Kouji Taguchi tweeted that because Square Enix acquired Eidos, it was able to save face with titles like Tomb Raider, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Hitman: Absolution, adding that Japanese games have experienced a "humiliating decline".
"Every day this week, I've been worried about how Japanese games will make a comeback."
While I'm really glad you're enjoying the game, I think you need to just take a step back and realize that neither the developers, the player base, or the players who have left but would like to return at some point [that's me] think the game is ready.
The systems have to be implemented, then balanced, and then content has to be created before it can be released.
I agree with the above posters about the PS3 not launching until the first expansion, similar to how FF XI opened up.
I don't feel, and I believe nor do the developers, that until the battle fixes are done, patched and completed, followed by improvements to the gathering classes, emergence of beast tribe lairs, level cap being raised, chocobos, and so on before this game is considered fully revitalized, improved with a chock full of new content begging for newcomers to sign up and play.
It would have come out already by now, had it not been for the vast amount of errors in the system and the displeasure with the combat system from the poll results, months back. But I think the game is going in a good direction now, at a nice and steady pace and if they just pick up the pace a bit and throw in a decent amount of stuff being asked by the community here on the forums, then they will be ready fro prime time to reopen Eorzea again for PS3 owners to explore.
I don't believe that rumor, but it would be nice if it were true. Once the core is fixed (and they seem to be getting closer and closer), implementing the rest of the features is hardly as time consuming. 4-5 months is plenty to implement the rest of the vanilla regions, AH, jumping, misc. Features like DB and linkshell improvements, possibly hamlet battles, more dungeons, advanced combat upgrades and so on.
