Very excited.. Y'shtola in Dissidia!

If this is truly just an arcade game I think there's no hope of seeing it outside Japan. In Japan you still find arcades fairly commonly (although half of the building are usually those UFO-catcher prize-grab thingies), but in the US they're practically dead.

I've played it many times when there and really wish they would bring it to the US, but can understand why they don't bother.

On the other hand, while Gunslinger Stratos would be hard to bring to console (it has 2 guns which you can combine in various ways to form different weapons, and the guns have thumbsticks and other controls on them ---- very specialized hardware), a fighting game should not be. So hopefully someday they might port this to XB1/PS4.

Y'shtola and miqou'tes

I kinda agree and disagree on several points. Miqou'te seems to be a FFXIV thing in the point that it's such a popular (and most popular) race to play... statistically, that would mean the Miqou'te would be an ideal candidate for catching people's eyes.

I'm not digging Yshtola being that representative for all of XIV, either, though. I haven't played 1.0 (my comp would probably burst into flames, from what I've heard of it's rather hardcore reqs to play), but I DO somehow relate more to that guy - regardless that I've only seen him in 1.0 youtube vids/Heavensward promo/2.0's Calamity opening vid trailer. He seems to be sitting in what would be the player's position - so looking from the adventurer's (ours) standpoint... rather than Y'shtola, whom is moreso on the support/sideline of the game's story. I don't feel she plays a huge role either - nothing more than any of the other scions. If anything, even Thancred might stand out more (more obvious/recognizable/standout character traits.... and so easy to poke fun at >_>).

On the other side, though.... the guy is not in FFXIV (that I know of). He's in the opening movie as a gateway movie from 1.0 to 2.0, but before I realized he was also referenced in 1.0, I had no idea who the hell he was - and I still kind of don't. Does he even have a name? o_o; I don't even know if he even played a part in 1.0 (as I never had a reason or need to really look him up - only seen him vid trailers like the one that pretty much outlines Midgardsormer's fight and he has a vision of it). o_O So if a good chunk of players don't even know who this is other than some random guy in the opening movie, he's probably been forgotten or placed in the "meh, random person" bag and dismissed by a good chunk of the playerbase. That doesn't make good for representation. :\ Only faces that either stand out, or that everyone recognizes, would. Technically, Y'shtola does both. Everyone that plays the game knows who she is, and anyone who hasn't is going to go "OMGKITTY". But yeah. Just from what I've seen alone, the guy seems more like "one of us adventurers" than a support character - when adventurers (the players) are the main characters.

So... I agree and disagree o.o The guy is a better but not a good representative of FFXIV, though Y'shtola is a better but not a good rep of FFXIV o_oa .....

Before Dissidia the Characters Warrior of Light(FF1) and Onion Knight(FF3) were underdeveloped characters just like Meteor"Derplander", Characters just there in their own games without a personality other than what the player makes for them. Onion Knight even lost his own game when the FF3 remake came out to be replaced by Luneth. (Although the 4 Onion Knights in FF3(nes) actually do talk, but they usually talk as a group instead of one person)

However unlike Warrior of Light(FF1) and Onion Knight(FF3), Meteor represents us, the players, and the Warriors of light of Final Fantasy XIV. Meteor has That character you see in the 1.0 CG, the ARR CG, the Heavensward CG, and many offical artworks is the personification of us And not only that, He actually has a bit of his own lore that gives him a bit of personality. I would rather have the walking persona of all of our characters rather than a random Y'shtola.

This is just my own opinion, i'm sure Y'shtola is very popular in japan(probably more because she is a catgirl over her personality, background history, and lore) which was probably why she was picked to represent FFXIV. SE is usually like that when picking characters for their spin offs, Popularity and fanservice over Lore.

With that fact (as a representation of 'us' as the adventurers/main characters) I have to agree more with you.
Unfortunately, he still isn't a widelt recognizable face/character - or have the 'ermagherd kertty' factor that I'm sure SE is willing to use to grab newbies with x.x

Lol and her attacks would be like Yuna's, where other Warriors of Light are attacking for her, and her final attack would be being kidnapped by an Asian and his super attack would mistakenly hit her opponent instead of her. At the end of her final attack, another Warrior of Light comes in to save her.

Or her final attack would her being on the phone and holding up a finger to her opponent so he pauses his attacks and dies of old age because she never hangs up.

First thing to remember, Y'shtola is also the Curtain Call rep for XIV, so she already has more exposure outside the main game than almost every other character. Second, there is the possibility that this Dissidia will eventually be ported to systems (probably ps4), my reasoning being that both Persona 4 Arena's did so. That said, its a possibility, we will have to wait a while to know for sure.

Too bad she's a bland boring character just like many of the Scions.
Derplander would of been a better choice...because he reps the Adventurers/WoL's/Players.

The Scions don't do crap. We do 95% of the dirty work, so that seems a more suitable choice.
Minifilia is just to be a boob trophy.
