New to healing in FFXIV WHM help

I was a career FFXI healer and now find myself so lost trying to heal in FFXIV. First I am using PS4 so mouse over healing seems like that would be a bad idea. Second, I get management of mana is important but at level 35 I still feel like I am falling behind. I focus on tank then others start taking damage and I lose focus quickly. Quickly healing is what I want but the mechanics seem flawed. Are macros for cure and medica feasible or do I just need to get used to scrolling quickly through the party list?

Being a seasoned SCH (T13) Ps4 userI would say get used to scrolling the list ....though a weird way was to have a macro set for each ''Party member slot'' which was awkward watching it .
Anyhow it acts as a ''MO'' while highlighting ...You're level 35 you're still getting your feet wet trust me it will grow on you...

As A healer your priority is to keep the Tank alive at all cost..DPS is important but Tank obviously holds more weight if they die you then pull auto agro (WHM) killing you then the dps ...DOMINO

As A WHM especially around your lvl Regen should be your Patch healer , while regen is up on tank it gives you a bit of a breathing room so you can patch up dps ....WHM macros are a rarity mainly counting on the Cure proc and managing your DS/ PoM output
nothing can really be ''tied'' together to allow you to dominate healing over all.

Back to scrolling through the party list, you will see how easy it becomes around lvl 40-45ish and at 50 once you start getting into the primal healing it'll just come naturally just a bigger party list but guess what you have another healer to help you along the way till youre up to speed

Here are some suggestions for healing at low levels:
1.) When DPS take damage use regen on them its instant so you can go back to healing the tank, and they still receive healing for 12 seconds. if they take heavy damage use a cure or cure II after applying regen.

2.) When the Tank establishes hate make sure to regen them it will ease your job and allow you to DPS or Stoneskin the other players.

3.) If the damage dealers are pulling off the tank, either A.) the tank sucks or B.) the DPS are not controlling themselves and they deserve to die so don't heal them.

I'll just redirect you to this topic. Someone who came from FF11 had a similar question.

I'm also going to add, level 35 is around the Brayflox stage and it's very easy to feel a bit behind in there! The mobs and mechanics have all stepped up a little bit compared to your previous dungeons & primals. Be sure to use Cure I until you get Cure II free to help with your mana. You'll quickly get used to scrolling up and down the party list, it's very efficient. You're doing fine, I'm sure!

I'm also a seasoned T13 scholar healing with controller. This is kind of embarrassing to admit but I started out totally clueless and resorted to spamming medica because I didn't know how to single target heal.

I suggest you watch some streams directly from your ps4. Most will be using controller and you can see how they manage.

I will agree that using the dpad is efficient and easy one you're used to it. You start to learn how many times to hit the up or down button to get to the desired party member (never more than 2 presses in a light party). Also keep in mind as soon as you begin casting a spell you can change targets and your spell will go on who you had targeted when you cast it. This saves an enormous amount of time.

Keep at it, that stage of levels is rough!
