    The other Horned race?

I never wrote down names, but after finishing Leatherworker quests, i noticed a young conjurer in the crowd. Like the CNJ guildmaster, he had horns but normal skin, unlike the scaley protrusions of the new Au Ra. Anyone have any insight to this other horned race?

Those are the Padjal. They're Hyur who are chosen by the Elementals to be their mediators with the Gridanians. They're usually chosen as children, whereby they grow horns and stop visibly aging (they don't seem to be biologically immortal). A few families are known for producing them more often than others, such as the Senna family - the three Senna children currently lead Gridania, with Kan-E-Senna in the highest position and also leading the Order of the Twin Adder.

If you look at the winged elementals, they have the same little horns.

Where did you get that awesome screen shot, is that from one of the White Mage quests?

I just grabbed the first thing that caught my eye on Google Images, but it's from the collections of The Adventure League of Eorzea (T.A.L.E.), whose name I often come across when digging for screenshots and archives that aren't my own. I believe it's from a 1.0 levequest that featured elemental enemies. Chessirin has a good eye for screenshots, lol.

Wasn't E-Sumi-Yan the actual leader of Gridania but Kan-E-Senna took over JUST BECAUSE she looks older. IIRC they feared that they wouldn't be taken seriously because of their looks and decided to let Kan-E-Senna do the work because she does look the oldest and mature.
I'm wondering how influental my beloved cutie E-Sume-Yan is to gridania and it's politics. The other Padjal I've always seen more as "the not so important chosen ones" watching over the forest with little influence to gridanias politics or to how its lead. It's also really sad that we don't get to see much of the Padjals. Especially O-App-Pesi (?) like HOLLLLLYYY I've seen him in two quests in all my time in XIV, least 's all I remember of him.

As far as I know Kan E has always been a prodigy amongst Padjals/ Seed Seers.

At a young age she prohepecized that a drought/ locust infestationwill occure, thus preventing famine. Afterwards she we taken into the CNJ where she passed with flying colors at a young age. I think she bacame a regular seed seer afterwards and lived out in the woods to communicate with the Elemental.

She came back to become the elder seed seer. In 1.0 it was O app essi that was the guild leader and it was actually e sumi yan that was his mentor. O app esi sucked at the job, so e sumi took over in 2.0.

As far as I know, Kan E Senna became the leader due to her skills and not because e sumi looked to young.

As for E Sumi's influence? He's the leader of the CNJ guild so I'm pretty sure he's got some say on some matters, like who amongst the students have potential to be seed seers/hearers. Who to assign at which military branch, etc

I always struggle to remember how the Padjal fit into things. I remember that O-App-Pesi is E-Sumi-Yan's brightest pupil, but that he's often off in the wood on his own. E-Sumi-Yan is the master of the Conjurer's Guild, if I remember correctly, because the Senna siblings are the current Seedseer Concil that lead Gridania.

Every organization within Gridania is assigned a conjurer overseer, and all of this is filtered back through E-Sumi-Yan to the Seedseer Council, so Brother E-Sumi is an extremely important member of Gridanian society, but I don't recall him ever actually being it's official leader, mainly just its de facto one, considering that the Seedseers live in and for the wood, rarely coming to the city itself. Kan-E returned permanently to be protected from the Empire and raise the morale of the people.

Likewise, I don't recall anything about Kan-E's appearance playing into her position. She is the eldest, anyway, afterall. Now, I don't doubt for a second that she was designed to be slightly older so that we would take her more seriously, but as an actual lore concern, I don't recall it coming up.

Like I said, though... my padjal lore is perpetually rusty. At best.

I seem to remember that at the Lore Panel at the Vegas Fanfest Fern said that Kan-E makes a deliberate attempt to look more "adult" so that foreigner leaders would take her more seriously.

It would be somewhat of a disadvantage being in a child like body while trying to get people to respect your age and wisdom. To be honest, I imagine it would be pretty frustrating have the age stop early anyway.

I'm curious if Padjal do ever show any signs of ageing. The reason I say this is It struck me the A-Towa-Cant had silvery hair that, at least to me, gave him a more aged appearance even if his face was childlike. I'm also curious why more of the Padjal aren't trained in White Magic as it seems to be an important Job in the maintenance of their relationship with the forest.
