Suggested Improvements to Need/Greed/Pass System

I concur. I don't remember if it was Final Fantasy XI or XIV 1.x, but there was a Loot List at some point where items (even items you won) could be reassigned before you actually transfer them to your inventory.

The issue is that we disagree on what "need" means. The "other" uses you suggest I'm oblivious to fall into the "greed" category. Including glamour.

When labyrinth was 1st released with ilvl below coil gear an interviewer asked why raiders should bother with st. Yoshi ' s response? We hope they will participate to obtain glamour items or gear additional jobs.

But the root of it is that you refuse to accept that ilvl is NOT the only legitimate reason to need.

You refuse to consider that need only implies value and that there are values beyond ilvl. If you simply accept this basic concept, then you also see that the system works VERY well. Better than most other games.

I disagree with the OP because all the good gear comes from tomes or locked out content anyways. In my opinion if you want to get specific drops you should be playing the job you want drops for, everything else is just a bonus that you're not entitled to.

That may come off rude but it's not like people are throwing the gear they get on the ground, they're converting it to seals, just like you're going to do when you get something better. Dungeon gear is pretty irrelevant aside from vanity in my opinion and all the content with modern gear either has a lockout or uses currency so people aren't needing on that if they don't want it anyways.

The loot system is designed fairly to me, rng determines what will drop and every player participating has one set of gear they can need on. Sure it's courteous to let newer players get some free loot by passing, I pass a lot myself, but it should not be an expectation.
