Just don't do another Evenstar Coat, people are still having nightmares from that one. >_>If we were to introduce a toggle option, tails would completely disappear from gear where the base of the tail is usually exposed (such as swimwear or subligar). Considering that tails are part of a Miqo'te's body, it's not really something we can do as having a tail is one of the unique characteristics of Miqo'te.
However, in regards to equipment where it seems more natural to have the tail hidden, such as the chocobo suit, we will consider designs where the tail is tucked away when adding gear moving forward.
I have to agree with not having the ability to turn off the tail since it is a part of the character.
In my opinion it's just a costume. So the character can't help that she needs a hole for her tail. This is just my opinion. There are outfits that should hide the tail based on what's actually being worn. There are some outfits that do this correctly like the Ghost outfit which hides the tail, but others that don't and look awkward.
A tail toggle could be implemented, which has pros and cons depending on the viewpoint. I'll start with the cons:
CONS
1. People could keep the tail disabled 24/7 hurting race diversity.
2. It may seem awkward with Tailed Races in revealing outfits without their tail showing.
I don't think anyone can stop me anymore, except for god"...
If you ever have had a cat you know you pretty much couldn't wind the tail up in a ball and stick it in the rump of like that chococbo costume the tail has too many bones. It would be possible to put the tail between the legs and wrap it around to the front but that doesn't seem realistic because they you would see this budge in the front.
Its funny because most of the gear just lets tails clip though the armor. Armor that accommodates tails is few and far between, so we can only guess that devs simply don't want to make armor with tails in mind. toggling them off is a good solution
tbh this is the only suggestion I can really get behind. Magically making the tail disappear is unrealistic as heck, unless docked tails suddenly become the fashion in Eorzea. Wrapping them around waists/legs/god-knows-where is anatomically invalid.
That said, Squeenix isn't gonna modify the vast majority of the gear in the game just for that. They might take more consideration of the tails in future gear pieces (thanks Au Ra) but odds are that the gear that already exists is staying as it is.
It's an MMO. All armour is not gonna look amazing on all races. There will be some clipping. It's a sad reality.
(But I still would really like to see tail slits oh man)
Miqo'te Tails don't stick straight out, they point downward. If a costume has even the tiniest bit of extra space in the butt area, you can maneuver the tail after a certain point down one leg of the costume.
If your argument against hiding tails with certain gear, such as the Chocobo Suit, is that Miqo'te tails are shaped incorrectly to be hidden that way, you're just wrong. If you were right, there would be zero equipment in the game that hides the tail, but there are items that do hide it. I know, for one, that the Wolfseye Robe hides your tail and only the fake wolf tail is shown. Also, the Evenstar Coat? That can't be my tail, it's far too thin and permanently erect. That has to be a part of the coat itself (and someone's idea of a speciesist joke since they only put it on coats they give to Miqo'tes), and my real tail has to be hidden somewhere.
