Why Speed Pulls?

My advice to you is this. When I queue as tank or healer, I will abide by the groups(The majority, no individual whiners) wants to make the run go more smoothly, because to me Its about putting the team before yourself, this is called being a team player. I may personally enjoy speedier runs when I tank but I will slow down and do lesser pulls if the healer can't handle it or the DPS don't want too. This effect goes both ways. So maybe stop thinking about you as the center of the universe and try thinking about being a team player the best way you can.

This doesn't mean you have to bend your will to every jerk who comes your way, as I said above. The majority rules, not individual whiners. Judge each situation the best you can. It may not be what you "want", it may not be what i "want", but I can find joy in being a team payer. But again, I'm a team player, and I feel no one individual determines the speed of the run. Play as a team the best you can. Maybe its a loss concept these days when everyone is a unique special snowflake to play as a team and to respect others as you respect yourself.

And to be perfectly frank, if you're going to pull the "its my money I play how i want!" you're every bit as selfish and detrimental to this game as the people complaining to speed run when its clear others do not want too. So many people here always has the selfish "me first" attitude and they don't seem to realize the "Yah, f**k them!" attitude is just as bad as the people you're complaining about. You're all so quick to be vindictive and spiteful of those people that you can't even see the hypocrisy of the statements.

Take a step back, calm down, and be a team player. You'll often times find talking to people in the dungeon goes a long way to building a solid understanding between your team. Its not hard to be social or to compromise... you just gotta take the first step. And this approach has its own rewards.

I used to be of the mind that as the tank I set the pace and what I say goes, but guess I just don't see any point anymore in stonewalling and trying to get my own way when the other three people are in agreement. When I queue as tank I'm prepared to either speed run or take it slow depending on party composition, gear, and what people want. If the other three players want a speed run, I'm not going to pull three mobs at a time when I know I'm perfectly capable of tanking everything up to the first boss in a huge pile for those two pyromaniacs black mages. When I queue as healer, I'm prepared to either heal a speed run or DPS my tail off on small pulls.

You're all there for the same reason - to complete the duty. Nobody really expects anything more than to finish it as efficiently as possible. So if you find yourself in a party wanting a speed run, why not go along and try to have fun with it? Stepping outside your comfort zone once in awhile can only make you a better player.

Don't, if you don't want to speed run, as a tank you don't have to. You are the one that sets the pace of the duty, if rest of party doesn't like it, they can leave. If anyone tries to pull extra packs into your pull, let them tank it. This is a game, play it the way YOU enjoy it, and don't let others dictate how you play.

Thank you for the support! I have been literally leaving these groups lately because I don't even feel like dealing with it. I am not in a hurry, a little 30 min timer won't scrape me.

Nobody is forcing you to speed run, just don't be surprised if you end up getting kicked if the majority of the group wants to play their way and you don't comply.

I would be far from surprised if I get kicked for not going fast enough even though I am going at a really good pace. I am simply just not pulling as much as everyone else is or how much they are asking. I have seen people use the kick system for much less than this.

Must the ppl that speed run dungeons now due it because they are doing it for Zodiac drops, i think ppl wouldn't be in such a hurry if you didnt have to do the dungeons 40 times sometimes before you got the drop. I agree with you though sometimes it rather annoying to have other ppl pulling mobs cause they think you should go faster. But i blame SE they made it so if you dont speed run the amount of time it takes to do some things can be extremely long.

That mindset is every bit as detrimental and useless to the community as the people you are complaining about in the OP. Don't compromise your own good will because others lack theirs. Retaining your own integrity may be hard in an ocean of jerks sometimes, but I mean, try to stay afloat instead of drowning in it. Be the better man/woman!

My take away from this is simply, do your best to come to an understanding, don't default to "fk it" like the advice some people have given you here.

I am a human, the situation is much more complicated than queueing for a dungeon and knowing full well at just what pace I'm going to pull. No, it is far from this. It is a mix of mood and people's behavior towards me. I will always ALWAYS try to make a deal with those harassing me to pull too many. I probably won't ever pull the whole first row of trash in Amdapor Keep normal, however I can chain 2-3 pulls and pull faster...just not the entire row. Anyway, when I go into a dungeon and the first thing I'm told is "Do big pulls!!!!!!!!!!!!" is frustrating. How about this? "Feel free to do big pulls!" or even "We would love if you did big pulls" instead of the occasional jerks who stand there without saying anything, waiting for me to keep going and then giving up and force pulling shit into me.

i usually don't speed run, but play a normal paced, sometimes the other member insulting me of course and this is not a problem for me, no one die, so i feel well with myself..bu many other sometimes kick me..i report all to SE, and often i keep the vid of that..

i don't really care about herassment, but i hate be kicked because i don't speed run..SE need to do something about the vote to kick system..

I've seen dd pull for tanks and sometimes the tank doesn't pull it off them, let's them die and moves on. If the healer heals this person, well you have a problem then.

When I'm on my tank I generally speed pull, but that's if notice the PT I'm in is full 50s in a low level dungeon. If you have 50s in a low level dungeon, you just know - know they aren't there for the exp. lol That's when I start speeding but if It's like a group of people who are at the same range of the dungeon I'm going to relax and go slow. Clear the whole dungeon for them. They waited hours for it, so may as well give them the exp slow-bro run.

As for being with a PT in a high level dungeon. If your in a duty roulette expert - expect to speed. Most people want poetics and go out the door zoom zoom. lol
If it's anything else, do what you want. Your the tank, you call the shots essentially.

You clearly have followed the whole topic, and for that I applaud you. You don't seem to be able to make the difference between trying to settle a friendly deal with whoever is harassing me to make big pulls when I don't want to necessarily make it THAT BIG. You know the point you missed? It's the point where I said I actually pull at a good pace, but that isn't the problem. The problem is people literally asking [telling] me to go from the beginning of the instance to the first boss, in many instances, this many trash mobs is simply annoying to deal with.
