Why Speed Pulls?

Little kids these days are so spoiled. Dungeons are time consuming? What rock have you been living under? Any MMO with half a fraction of thought put into a true dungeon - it takes 45 minutes just for the party to buff up, prepare and position, and at least 5 - 6 hours to clear the dungeon with maybe a 10 minute break here and there at the trash pull areas. To say that running a dungeon even casually at 15 - 20 minutes each is time consuming . . . that's beyond impatience.

Speed pulls - preform your party.
Slow pulls - DF

The way I see it people want speed runs because the dungeon gets mind numbingly boring after the 501390th run. They just want to get it over and done with. Whether it is because they have to do their duty roulette daily, leveling up a side class, farming tomes, or getting that item drop. When you know you can do the dungeon once any satisfaction of completing it more is very minimal.

Of course this doesn't excuse their behavior. If someone wants to watch the cut scenes then wait 10 freaking seconds and let them watch. If someone doesn't want to speed run then it shouldn't be forced. If you are voted out because your opinion differs then you are reminded of how democracy works.

I had an evil Lalafell healer in Duty Finder expert who didn't say hello but his first words were "No b*tch pulls." He was rude the entire instance and wanted me to tank SR AK HM with a monk and a bard. Suffice to say the monk struggled. We cleared it fast but he was making initial pulls expecting me to pick them up off him.

Super rude and ignorant he was. But I left a mob unclaimed for his ass. :3 He died and I had a good chuckle.

lol Classic! I had a lala whm do the same thing to me a while back in snowcloak. Not a peep from him, until after the first mob. I pulled to the spriggans as I had a MNK and undergeared ninja. The lala took it upon him self to gather the wolves and come running back to me. I had a great laugh watching him run in circles typing "TANK! TANK! FLASH! NOOB Flash!" I laughed while the wolves feasted on him and returned to their location. he left the dungeon and one of my friends filled in the rest of the run

In a party of mine, he wouldn't have lasted past "No b*tch pulls." Generally, I politely ignore calls/demands to "do big pulls" as a tank, but if they REALLY start to push, from now on, I'm gonna shout (probably macro) "RNGesus take the wheel!!"

Well, I can understand people doing Zodiac for example hoping for speed runs. I did 30+ runs of Dzemael, Pharos and AK, and getting the occasional slow puller made running the stuff even worse. But in the end, it's the tanks choice how much he wants to/feels like he can handle pulling. I didn't whine about small pulls, but I can understand the frustration after doing the same stuff consecutively xy times.

Are you that hellbent to attempt to prove a point about general populace? You do realize that even your poll will not be accurate enough for you to label any one group a "minority" of the subject, don't you?

Also... I would like to add that SR's are more gear than actual player skill for the tank... If a Tank at the minimum ilvl req entered a dungeon and attempted a "pull to boss" SR run. I'm afraid to say that no matter how skillful that tank is, he will die as the healer will not be able to heal the amount of incoming damage with a tank who meets ilvl req... SR's are mostly governed by gear, NOT player skill. The ability to dodge telegraphs, know when to apply your CDs, combos, and keeping an eye on your enmity bars while toggling targets, THAT takes skill...

No ma'am... I like how people come up with this slew of garbage and assuming that people who don't want to speed run all the time are in the minority based on their own personal experiences... When you can come with actual numbers and static statistics where you count a LARGE percent of the player-base in your poll regarding that subject then you can speak about minority but until then, don't try to act like you know what you are talking about on that subject... SR is a matter of preference...

OP, I hate speed runs too. When I tank and someone complains about my pace, I just leave.
