Seriously is like 90% of the game's player base in a hurry? I queue for dungeons as tank and I more often get groups who pressure me to pull the entire instance in 1 pull. It's annoying, I am not a hurry, why is everyone in a hurry? and most of all why should I comply?
Edit: Guys if I was looking for a solution I would have stopped at the first response because it was a solution in itself. However I don't completely agree with it and anyway I already stated my own solutions for dealing with the problem. I'm simply trying to get what is on your mind on paper, I wouldn't follow up with questions and comparing your opinions with mine if I didn't. Take this as you will.

Don't, if you don't want to speed run, as a tank you don't have to. You are the one that sets the pace of the duty, if rest of party doesn't like it, they can leave. If anyone tries to pull extra packs into your pull, let them tank it. This is a game, play it the way YOU enjoy it, and don't let others dictate how you play.
You can play the way you want, no harm there, just be ready to expect other people to, at the very least, want to play how they want too, thats all thats happening. Different ideals. You want to go slowly, they want to go faster. You're both within your rights to want either or.
However I will agree, as a tank, you set the pace for a fight in this situation. Just don't be confused when people want to play differently than you. Its a game with millions of people from around the world, common logic dictates some of them won't be like you, and that yes, assholes exist. It doesn't give them the right to be jerks, I'm just saying... jerks exist. Welcome to the reality of life.
But in the end, you play how you're comfortable playing. But i at the very least do recommend if you have BLMs or SMNs, try to get at least 4 targets, as with SMN thats most efficient due to Banes effect.
I'm preferable to speedier runs, but I do like how Experts are right now with walls to be perfectly honest... I hate gigantic pulls on SMN cause all I can really do to spread DoT is Miasma II and Shadowflare... then its Blizzard II spam ._.

I disagree, if they wanted to speed run they should just run with a tank they know or queue as tank. I queued as tank to get my pace? Then they should too. Fairs fair.
I don't like it when tanks speed runs when I heal, yet I don't complain and go with it.

Not like it's hard to shield lob mobs to pick em up, and when u have them gathered spam flash to zero mp, and riot blade ur mp back for next pull. It's complete overkill to be maintaining agro on mobs with rage of halone combo, and it's a waste of potential dps to make AOE classes attack 1v1.
Nobody is forcing you to speed run, just don't be surprised if you end up getting kicked if the majority of the group wants to play their way and you don't comply.
I never said it was hard. Do you think I don't know that? I am perfectly capable of doing large pulls. It is just annoying. So what if it is overkill? Is this a race? Do we NEED to optimize our DPS? Nope. Not like it's hard to shield lob mobs to pick em up, and when u have them gathered spam flash to zero mp, and riot blade ur mp back for next pull. Some people do dungeons but don't enjoy them and want to get out of there as soon as they can. I will never uderstand them but eh.
I've been farming a lot of dungeons lately for stuff to desynth and have come across a lot of tanks. Most of them aren't really good at speedrunning but want to do it anyway, very few are good at them, and a bunch doesn't speedrun at all. Personally I just adapt to whatever the tank is comfortable with, I don't mind either way, but I've seen a lot more people getting angry at the tank for not picking up enough than the opposite. But if they turn nasty, I just initiate a vote kick and they are dismissed pretty quickly.
I think the funniest thing is that people will assume I think it's too hard to speed run hence the reason I don't want to do it. PEOPLE, I AM JUST NOT IN A HURRY LIKE ALL OF YOU.Some people do dungeons but don't enjoy them and want to get out of there as soon as they can. I will never uderstand them but eh.
The problem is not chaining 2 packs of mobs together or pulling a single mob to the next pack. IT IS LITERALLY PULLING THE ENTIRE TRASH PACKS FROM 1 BOSS TO ANOTHER. WHY SO MANY?! Not only is it almost useless, its annoying and people literally go as far as kicking or insulting others for NOT DOING IT.

I used to be of the mind that as the tank I set the pace and what I say goes, but guess I just don't see any point anymore in stonewalling and trying to get my own way when the other three people are in agreement. When I queue as tank I'm prepared to either speed run or take it slow depending on party composition, gear, and what people want. If the other three players want a speed run, I'm not going to pull three mobs at a time when I know I'm perfectly capable of tanking everything up to the first boss in a huge pile for those twopyromaniacsblack mages. When I queue as healer, I'm prepared to either heal a speed run or DPS my tail off on small pulls.
You're all there for the same reason - to complete the duty. Nobody really expects anything more than to finish it as efficiently as possible. So if you find yourself in a party wanting a speed run, why not go along and try to have fun with it? Stepping outside your comfort zone once in awhile can only make you a better player.
