    So when we get to the expansion....

    We currently have 10 job classes and 3 more on the way.

    When we get them that means the chance for the gear for your class is gonna go from 1/10 to 1/13 chance.

    I'm not terribly worried about this myself, but we already have people screaming about not getting their drops in WoD/Coil on the fourms.

    Seems a little cruel on players who use a single class if every time a new class is revealed their % chances on gear drop.

    Only thing I can see (sort of) working is more cross classing. But then does that mean we're gonna see paladins wearing dark knight armor? And the other way round?


    Whats everyones opinion?

    yoschi p already said on the masamune server just 2 days ago when asked that the new raid alexander will handle rewards "differently" than current coil does. which to me means finally the rng is getting removed/limited atleast. current loot system does not work anymore with even more jobs coming in the future.

    None of this has been stated anywhere (at least, afaik). All we know is what Yoshida said yesterday on Masamune regarding that.

    It seems perfectly plausible though. The main reason nin works differently is, that they wanted dex/str jobs to be 2 & 2 instead of 1 & 3, which is, again, for the sake of aleviating competition on str gear, and that dex does asthetically make far more sense than str for a knife fighting stat. But I see no real good reason for there to be different gear sets. Tanks are tanks. Healers are healers. And Machinist is a cloth/leather wearing ranged attacker. I'm not saying they won't come out with individual gear sets for these jobs. I am saying it's pretty unlikely.

    I suspect they're adopting the personal drop system as implemented in the LFR for World of Warcraft. It would be great, and the influence on hastened progression would be minimal due to the 3 month release cycle anyway.

    For people who don't know what that system is:
    When a boss is downed, everyone in the raid rolls a number. That number is compared to a pre-designated threshold. If you roll higher, you are guaranteed a piece of loot from the drop table of that boss which can be equipped by your current class. If you roll lower, you don't get gear but get some gold.


    Personally I think the faster release cycles really need this system, there's little point to delay gear progression with RNG if that gear is becoming obsolete in 3 months time anyway.

    I'd make one adjustment. Not gold but any gear from the loot table for that chest. So you still get the whole I can gear my other jobs while at the same time giving me a decent chance at my own gear.

    raids will still be on a 6 months cycle aswell as tombstone gear. idk were you get the info that we will get new raids every 3 months. thats just way to fast for any mmo out there. imo they need to just make a token system like shiva were everyone gets a token for a raidboss kill + rng loot aswell. once you get like lets say 10 of these tokens you can CHOOSE a piece of gear form that raid except the weapon which should require a token from final turn of course. this way you can atleast get all items from a raid even if you cannot clear ALL the turns yet. you would just get it slower for example.

    anyway there is many systems for this that are ALL alot better than the rng bullshit we got till now.

    Kind of Off Topic: Hoping they add a 14 class as 13 is like the legendary bad mojo.

    Then they can add 2 chests where 7 items from Class Group A and 7 items from Class Group B can drop.
    I shrug.
    As RNG god has been good to me.

    That or they can have it where if X certain token drops it can used by [ range dd classes ] to turn in for x reward. [Melee classes ] [tank classes ] [healer classes] should lighten the load.

    Tank classes using tank gear, healer using healer gear I can imagine but would not want to see machinst's using bards gear though...not saying it isn't something they are considering but would look odd and not very cool especially if already have a bard so I prefer gunslingers had their own outfits. Imagining machinists wearing amon set for example.

    Just doubling up new classes to use old gear does not fix the problem, it remains the same problem that currently exists at the same current amount of RNG. Is does not make the problem worse but it does not fix it either. Doubling the class use of pre-existing gear is not a good solution, tokens seems the most likely and best solution for both keeping unique looks for classes and not increasing the RNG. Whats more is they use the token system already for example i90 gear and works well, I imagine they will just expand that function in future.

    Also keep in mind as someone who has a bard and has used a lot of bard gear, I would hate making new class and that new class looks exactly the same as my other one with just one difference being the weapon...that's pretty lame so I hope they do not do that and keep making unique class sets but fix the problem with loot by using tokens instead. It's more okay if do not have a class which uses that exact set already but to impose that same set on two classes which a person might have would be horrible in my opinion.
