The real problem ain't "Bot this Bot that" but SE too soft to any bots program user, tbh even some people whos using Teleport Hack for "Early pull" on Rank A hunt never get banned and tons of them using it too on FATE grind lol. gg

Don't know if that would change the situation very much though. So long as it's more convenient to just buy the shards from the MB than just go and gather it yourself, people will buy the shards from the MB and bots will farm them. And bots already have the price of shards at rock bottom, because their time has almost no value to it.I made a suggestion a while ago that the higher the node the more shards it gives per swing. levels 1-5 give 1, 10-15 give 2. 20-25 give 3 upto level 50 nodes giving 6 per swing. Which would make it less an onerous task to harvest quantities of them thus making it less desirable to feed the gil farmers pockets.
Real people subconsciously place quite a bit of value in their time, it's why we craft the things that we believe to make more money, or do the things that level up our classes the fastest. A bot's time has almost no value. They will farm something that has very little gil-to-time-spent ratio, but since they can throw so much time into farming it, they still can make plenty of gil.

So much this. Gathering shards/crystals kills my soul to the point that I'd rather either buy them or send my retainers to gather them. I don't do it myself unless I'm doing something else like digging for a map.

I use a movie personally or if I want to spiritbond to get some more materia I then get a buttload of carbonised matter during said movie. Play windowed mode and pop media player classic on next time you need to grind.
I have seen people in FCs using bots but as it is a 3rd party program I always report them. I just hope SE monitors them when they are using it.
What can I say, I've reported bots months ago and all this time they were still happily botting away. It's absolutely disgusting and shameful to see botting done so obviously and consistently, with impunity, in a pay to play title such as this. I refuse to use things like these because cheating in an online environment is sickening, but that doesn't keep others from doing it and gaining a huge advantage while SE keeps ignoring reports. With how clunky the reporting system is, I have all but stopped using it.
A few weeks ago, I saw a bot from an FC. I messaged the FC's leader about it, and a few minutes later, that bot was kicked from the FC. I wish SE's paid employees managed to do something about bots over the course of a few weeks, if not minutes, at least.
Sadly, in this game, cheating of all kinds seems to be worthwhile, for those who choose to do it. It'll make some people hate you, but you'll most likely get away with it. It's a paradise for jerks.

everything is working as intended.Wanna leave an instane without 30min penalty? Just DC or afk and get vote-kicked. File a report, but they dont do much good
The issue is that it is very difficult to prove. POS hacking? Sure thing, as there is a blatantly obvious tell for that (teleporting around the map), however while an automated bot may seem "obvious" to you (and also may seem obvious to the GM that is dealing with the case), there is little that can be done to legitimately prove it. I mean, you can spot people that have been farming for days - and you can also spot some "bot-like" movement, however how do you genuinely prove that it is automated and not just some guy sitting behind a desk doing the same thing over and over?
Every decent MMO developer should have within its means a method to go through and and see third party programs hook into the client to manipulate at minimum id codes which is how the majority of bots operate. Its detectable but the question is do they care enough to go that route as long as they feel it is not on the leve of RMT.The issue is that it is very difficult to prove. POS hacking? Or we could have SE monitor large gil transfers, investigate when large sums of money are exchanged between players, flag when it occurs
if they banned everyone that caused some sort of toxicity/bad behaviour that affects the community then they will lose a lot of money. lol
