    Raid runs and gear drops

    Dear SE

    I have a gripe about the way we are supposed to get some of the drops from the R45+ dungeon (dzemadfsbnfsl darkhold)

    apparently you can only get some items by doing a "speed run" and having 35+ minuted left on the clock at completion, for example i am a Glad main and i want the falchion sword

    the thing is i only do runs in my LS and in the interest of being fair we never have a party setup that can accomplish this.. IE tank, archers and mages

    i can appreciate some poeple dont want it to be too easy.. like me- but at the same time lets not try to shun certain people

    if im honest the raids have put a strain on the LS because we want to succeed but we want all our members to experience the raid even if they arent an archer or mage.

    and whats more some of our guys are new R50's and dont have all their sub abilities, it is especially critical the tank is an experienced player and i have noticed some of our new glads have been put the way side which is also dissheartening for them, and its not like anybody wants a second glad just to DD...

    to sum up, i can appreciate people want a challenge but lets try to make things as fun as possible for as many people as possible, maybe it SHOULD be easy for experienced players with all their sub abilities and still be a challenge for inexperienced players

    there could be a difficulty setting where if you beat it on full difficulty you can at least get bragging rights but everyone will atleast be able to complete and get the gear..

    Don't need "IE tank, archers and mages" to do a speed run. I mean, obviously you need someone to heal and a semi-tank, but it doesn't have to be so direct and specific. If you've been told that you can't do a speed run without archers or without 7 mages, whoever is telling you that information is playing you.

    no ones told me that, it is kind of a given

    it is a fact that it is much easier to do it with archers and mages

    i dont want to get into that

    I fully agree.

    One of the things that made me shy away from FFXI is that there are certain jobs that are practically worthless. If you make a game, then you should balance classes to a point where any of them can contribute. Of course there are some people for whom this means game is easy. For me this is example of fake difficulty.

    One thing that have also been said here (and I'm not sure there are topics for this elswhere) is the subjob system. It definetly needs to be adjusted. I play glad myself and when I heared that to be good tank I needed 50 GLA and 30 ARC, LANC, MRD, PGL.. in other words when I heard that I have to level all disiples of war halfway to the end I got really dishearthened.

    I have a glad friend i feel extremly sorry for, i know him to be a good gamer from other games and he just got his glad to R50 but he hasnt got some of the sub abilities,

    half the server thinks he is a "scrub" and wont take him on runs and nobody want a glad for DD either

    So? It's "easier". Ok. You seem to think it's one way or no way.

    Why cry about it when you don't want try a different way? There really are only 2 real reasons why it's perceived to be easier with just archers and mages: 1) range; no huge spikes of AE dmg since they aren't in melee range which results in no upkeep of healing except on the tank 2) Archers are the fastest-most reliable burst type classes and mages have the most OP form of damage in the game.

    Completing a speed-run is more about time efficiency more then anything, as well as good communication and understanding. If you're dieing on the way, or killing things you shouldn't be killing, killing things much slower then you should, etc. then you're going to have problems completing it even with Archers and Mages.

    Melee do perfectly fine in speed runs. You just have to be confident and competent with your group.

    OK, your right it is possible with a party that isnt archers

    but its also possible a meteor will land on me in the next 5 minutes

    when we do our LS raid runs we see who signed up or who is online- we make a party and then head out

    my point is, in this case not only is the party make-up and the experience of the players critical for not just completion but then they add the time limit AND a another time limit for getting certain gear this kind of casual approach isnt very successfull where we have multiple members of all different skill levels wanting to do runs.

    its not just 8 of us that do 10 runs a day and everybody knows exactly what to do.

    Goes back to the days of FFXI player elitism where if you didn't have a particular main and/or subjob you weren't invited to parties or story missions. People either picked the wrong job or were new to game and didn't have all the proper (according to players only) subjobs leveled yet.

    Players in FFXI boxed the job/subjob up too much into "this is your only role and you can't play it any other way (*coughRDMcough*)

    while i don't agree with what is being said in this thread, i do think there should be something done with the way parties are made in mmo's. like only set number of every class in every party. no more then 2cons, or 1archer. while yeah it removes some options, in reality i think it will help the gameplay more.

    this idea specially like for pvp and battlegrounds and scenarios, the systems they have just put random people together and the group put together the best or the ones made by real groups = winner. one time 10healers no dps or no healers and 10tanks lol, so make grouping system more better, 1 or 2 of each only...

    also maybe create a way for all classes to fit into a party so not one is left out of invites by maybe creating a grouping system where like if u don't invite certain types of classes that space in party becomes void thus just making the battles a little harder. so why not have them ...like a party of 8must have a drg in it or they can only have 7people. or u can have 9 with option of a drg, bst,blu. making it extra dmg and usefullness. or lol make every class very equal but i think this might be easier.
