A sword/axe class. There seems to be the an unwritten rule that if it uses long sharp knives, it has to be a tank!
Crazy idea: give people the choice as what they want to queue!
Red Mage. Let the Tears flow they are delicious.
Can people stop saying this already?
Give me one source where he specifically said this and I'll give you a cookie. I think you'll find out he's never said such a thing.
Red Mage (Tank) (AKA Rune Fencer)
-Uses magical enspells on there blade for many effects.
-Uses magical shields on themselves for deflecting/absorbing/protecting against magical attacks.
-Weapon Rapier
-Uses new magic "Red Magic" aka runes
Blue Mage (DPS)
-Learns monster magic
-Weapon Saber
-FF11 magic setup system
Green Mage (Healer)
-Uses Healing Overtime effects
-Uses enhancements instead of DPS in their free-time.
-Weapon Hammers
I still dont believe this until it's here and I see it with my own eyes. DK is never ever meant to be evasive. OK, DK got crippled anyway when they made him a Tank but in all FF-Franchises I ever played, I could immagine DK only as a "hard Def"-Tank, like sacrificing 20% of his health for +60% Defence and shit like this. But.never.ever.evasive. This is ridiculous and I wont believe it till it's here. The Evasive tank is arriving in 3.0 being DK.
Dark knight was revealed to be the Parry/Evade tank by Yoshi-P when he revealed DK in 2014.
How this will work I can only guess DK may use the Power of Darkness to make him or herself harder to be seen by the enemies in his or her Tank Stance. After all part of the Power of Darkness in any basic Fantasy story is to cloud people's vision from their own actions or their own emotions like every generic "why Darkness is dangerous" statement.
What the f*ck, DK an evasive tank. Name it already Samurai, because that's what it really is.
Dark Knight was cited as being a tank that uses dark magic. Nothing says anything about them being a Parry/Evade tank.
That being said, it honestly depends where 4.0 takes us. If it takes us to Thavnair, we might end up getting Mystic Knights. If it takes us to Doma, we might end up getting Samurai. If we don't get access to Sharlayan before 4.0 and we get it at 4.0, we might get access to Rune Fencer from FFXI.
It really honestly depends on where the game goes next. I mean hell, I seriously thought we were going to be getting Templar in FFXIV as our tank job for 3.0 because we were headed into Ishgard, which is a theocracy whose soldiers use spears. I never would have guessed that they would discard the "prerequisite class" system.
It seems they're adding jobs that fall in line with the storyline. Based on the FFXI precedent, Samurai makes sense - but don't see where the fit in the current state of the storyline (maybe we'll learn more about the Au Ra in 3.0). They made Ninja fit within the context of the story. The Crystal Tower storyline has also hinted at the Dark Knight. I think some take on the Gunblade weapon makes a lot of sense as some posters have mentioned. It would also make sense from a design perspective in the attempt to further establish FF14 as its own beast and not something to be overshadowed by FFXI.
I honestly don't see us getting another tank. If we do I hope it's a caster type tank to mix things up.
