There is a difference between learning the fights, and just not understanding mechanics in general. Unfortunately there are those who don't understand you can't stand in the green puddle, or that you shouldn't stand in the red cone. I rarely leave a duty, but if it's obvious that you lack the skills to understand anything mechanically then I will leave to avoid wasting my time. I work quite a bit and so the free time I do get to play the game, I want to spend it getting things done and not dying repeatedly because I have half a party of derps that just aren't ever going to get it right.

Let's say you are the one being carried.
And rare loot like primal drop.
    Are you going to pass?

Sorry mate. In DF it's all about business.
I don't know who you are and I am not obligated to baby sit you all the way.

If you can't keep up with the heat, stay out of the fire.

If you want to practice, go make a PF for practice.

Unfortunatly we already do. Kinda getting to the point of annoyance where every bad player whines and b*tches on the forums about "vet" players not teaching them. As I said in another post. Why should they? We don't pay to be a teaching/carrying b*tch for everyone who can't even read ability tooltips.

    @OP. nope

No amount of incentive is going to get people to stay. If people are truly frustrated with a run, they will eat the penalty than to keep trying with a group that probably is not working well with each other.

Because forum posters always do everything perfect, it's always the rest of the party that messes up. Noticed that? XD Even OP says, it's not them, it's everyone else that causes wipes. And they can never get in statics or clear parties, even though they always do everything perfect. :P

I've DFd with some very good players and they have been amenable to tips and advice. I've DFd with terribad players and they ignore any tips and advice given. Players being carried is the reason there are so many bad players at max level because they didn't have to put in the effort to perform to a certain standard. Then when they hit hard content, due to being carried and having it in their egotistical and blind mind they are "good" because they cleared aka got carried or took the lazy way and bought gil to pay for a content clear that throws the blame on everyone else instead. Thus the reason they never take advice and never improve. OPs suggestion would exacerbate that problem exponentially based on the desiredness of the rewards.

Ok OP, riddle me this. DF Expert, 3 none english speaking members. SCH not using fairy or dropping out of cleric stance once to heal. 3 wipes on the first pull. You would stick with that? Have fun if you would, me I'd take the 30 minute penalty if vote abandon didnt pass. Yes that is a true example.

This is a quote of the definition of elitist, a word that the self-righteous social justice warriors seem to throw around a lot without really understanding it. Seeing as how you're parading around saying, "I'm not the one causing the wipes, I'm the last one alive, I know the fights, it's everyone else"...that makes you an elitist, as well as a hypocrite. Anyone can make a case that someone is elitist in regards to someone or something else.

Aside from the obvious problems with this idea that everyone has already mentioned, there is one glaringly obvious reason why this will do absolutely nothing.

If you give the party a reward if they either A)[Clear the fight] or B)[Wait for the timer to run out], the optimal method of farming that reward will be option A. If your group is bad and can't clear the fight, Vote Abandons are still going to happen just as often. The only way this would not be true is if option A didn't exist or if option B gave 10 times the reward amount. I won't bother arguing for why either of those is absolutely stupid, as it is plainly obvious.

Stop trying to incentivise failure. It doesn't help.

I think if people keep leaving your duty finder instances, it's time to stop looking and blaming others.
Only get coins from solo que-ing in Duty finder - Problem solved.

echo solves problems caused by gear and lack of damage. but that is all that echo is solving.

For instance on Ramuh EX if 3-4 ppl cannot handle positioning and handling tethers after multiple times. Echo x10 will help you. Or for example a pug group that wipes to the first boss of ST 3 times in a row... why would you stay in it the whole time.

Reward would have to be crazy substantial to get someone to stay the whole time in a group like that.

I guess it is sad but it is the way the game is designed currently, with content being limited in life everyone is in a mad rush to get maxed out before next patch. There is no real motivator to help a group with multiple new ppl. The reward would have to be substantial enough for a person to potentially waste an hour helping the new person. Like +150 Poetics, 500 soldiery, and the item of choice for the person running for spending the whole time... attempting to help someone. But that would also be exploited so I do not see how. Anything less then that people will just leave because they can get more points and higher chance of gear else where.
