Because it'll turn the game into GW2 where some people only care about achievement score in parties.
This is a bad idea imo.
It would be fine to be able to look at people's achievements in-game by right clicking them but...
A ranking system? No.
What's wrong with a leaderboard?

Just add an overall category to the achievements, like challenge log has. For every 1000 achievement points, you get an achievement in the overall category with a reward item attached to it.

I wish seasonal events give around 5 achievement points fo the single quests and 20 achievement points for the last quest again
Prediction: 2.51 new relic grind is achievement points, THE HORROR xD
I would prefer if achievement died. The most horrible "system" to come out in the last decade.

The problem with a leader board is us 1.0 players have a ton of unobtainable achievement points that the new players can't get. So the leaderboard would be all the 1.0 players on top then followed by everyone else. If they did have a leaderboard they would have to probably set the legacy achievements to 0 points each to even the playing field.
As a 1.0 player I would actually like them to change legacy achievements to 0 points just so I can see how I compare with other people in my FC that didn't play 1.0. I started with about 2000 points that nobody can get so when we compare how many points we have its pretty meaningless.
