    Having launcher issues on Win 7.

    When I start up the launcher it gets to the main window but either a dialogue box saying 'System error - 2146697208' pops up or nothing loads (it just stays black). I've searched everywhere but none of the fixes worked permanently. I even tried deleting the Realm Reborn folder in My Documents (resulting in me having to redo all of my hotbars, character, and HUD settings) which worked up until I closed the game, and as soon as I tried logging in again the issue came back up.

    This is getting frustrating. I've been at it for hours now, trying everything I can think of and it's STILL not working, not to mention every thread I've come across complaining of the same issue was left unresolved.

    Edit: when the error message doesn't appear, there's different lines of text hidden at the top of the box. So far I've gotten

    <script type="text/javascr
    and
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://img.finalfantasyxiv.com/ft/arr_2_

    Now the launcher is failing every time I load it.

    Edit edit: the EULA popped up but without the Next button. This is what happened when I deleted the folder in My Documents earlier. That time I closed the launcher and reopened and was able to bypass the EULA, but that didn't work this time and now it's just crashing again. Honestly why can't there be a more reliable way to log on to the game than this? This is probably one of the most asinine things that has ever prevented me from playing a game before.

    I have exactly the same problem since yesterday. Haven't found a solution to it yet. Several launcher restarts help tho. It will eventually just load everything correctly. Can take between 5- several 100 restarts tho, lol and I obviously don't want to go through this everytime I want to start this game. A friend of mine will look into it later today to see if he can solve the problem. I'll let u know if he can help me, tho I rly would appreciate some answers here as well.

    Same exact problem for me. I had been playing just fine for about a year before this popped up unexpectedly.

    So this problem started for both of you in the past few days too? I know we had a recent Windows update and I'm wondering if that broke something for some users.

    I appreciate it. This is annoying cause my PC is fine, it shouldn't have to come to reformatting and losing everything to fix this.

    Edit: So I got in by disabling my anti-virus completely (on a whim), but obviously this is only a temporary solution.

    So.. sadly my friend wasnt able to fix it. He tried a lot of stuff. Last thing he could do is restart the modem to get a new ip. We didnt try that yet. Disabling the anti-virus program, starting the launcher and reactivating worked for me as well, so thanks for this! (I hope it works and I wasnt just lucky, not going to try out now, I want to play a bit xD).

    Bumping cause the issue is still present.

    Edit: Thanks to SilentPolaris it looks like adding http://frontier.ffxiv.com/* to your antivirus' whitelist is the solution to this, but it seems like this has been a serious and consistent issue for a lot of people for a couple years now and is worth a more permanent solution.
