Story time!

Everyone's gotta have an experience that just becomes "That Battle" for them.
The fight that had you on the edge of your seat, that one where you didn't realize you've been holding your breath the whole time, that one where you just felt like blurting out "OMG." in excitement when it ended. 'That Battle' that made you feel great by the end of it. 'That Battle' you wish you had been recording.

Share your epics! Win, lose, Dungeon, Raid, Boss, Trial, PVP, Hunt, Weird moment... anything that just made you go "Holy shit!" with joy/relief/surprise.


Just note, that some things are 'ohshit' moments for some, even if it's an average day for others - so please respect that.


My recent, it was Odin trial on my Bard, Taiga, at first clear.
We had wiped a few times - the DPS check being so tight that one death, even if super quickly raised, meant we would get diced - no question. That also meant, unfortunately, I had to dump Ballad ._.; (as that hurt, too... thats how tight it was) and had to mad dog it with just Foes (and BV when I could *punts it to CD faster*)...
Dumped every proc, every OCD skill, every buff into his damn arse.

On this particular round, Odin finally had enough of our flailing, mewling and slapping about. As he turned to the middle and began his Shin Zantetsuken, we rushed him... his HP wasn't low enough yet. His HP wasn't going down fast enough. We LB'ed but it was still looking like defeat. Still, we jammed our keys and slapped our skills and spells.
The timer was up. The screen started turning black. The animation for his final slice started, and a distinct "KSHHLT" sounded. The Shin Zantetsuken (the circle) slice symbol appears, the screen having gone black, and....

"Achievement: MISSED THE CUT"
*Insert Fanfare music here*

WELL, HELLS YEAH WE MISSED THAT CUT. O_O;;
I wish, I wish, I wish I had Fraps going right then to show what I mean by how close a shave that was. Not just 'beat the counter by half a second'. This was after Odin's bar had filled.



IE..... we were supposed to be dead at the circle slice! Someone had slapped the snot out of Odin right as the screen was supposed to re-appear and show us all falling over (sounded like a ninja's Assassinate sound, but I don't remember if there was a ninja in the party...).

"I hope someone recorded that!"
Sorry party, I wish I did ;_;

I've had close calls with Odin on Taiga, after that, but nothing compared to that wire!

Ninja vs Summoner

Since 2.4 released I thought Ninjas just always eviscerated Summoners. With their stun and silence abilities, plus the spell interruption mages deal with in general, I thought it would be impossible to take on head on. I'm really proud of this battle because it kind of removed my fear of them.

Ninja vs Summoner

Since 2.4 released I thought Ninjas just always eviscerated Summoners. With their stun and silence abilities, plus the spell interruption mages deal with in general, I thought it would be impossible to take on head on. I'm really proud of this battle because it kind of removed my fear of them.

LOL that ninja is a total newbie but you're a good smn as well.

I had to OT Garuda EX as a summoner once.
We wiped like 4 times then the tank who couldn't keep hate left and I decided to let Titan try tanking it.
Downed it on first try with Titan OT
That was pretty cool!

It was me vs 6 of them, their weight looming in as they piled on one after another. Gallantly pressing on even as the odds were against me, their red intrails spilling on the ground before me as I downed them 1 at a time. Fearing I would not perservier even as the odds were evened, the one last foe pushing my abilities to the limit. In the end finally achieving victory over my opponents, overwelmingly filled with satisfaction, yet still shaking from the whole experience.

Those raspberry jelly doughnuts are brutal.

I solo'd Isgebind on WAR from 20%. Lots of running in circles and Storm's Eye spam, but it got the job done.

The new guys were hysterical--I think I birthed 3 new WARs that day. You're welcome, DF queue.

Not my story but one I witnessed.

Trouble on the slime boss as confusion led some players to kill the bomb and thus die themselves. I was trying to lead the slimes to the newly spawned bomb and looked around noticing all were dead but the healer and I. She was a new healer, first time in the dungeon. I looked around too long though and in my surprise I got clipped by the bomb and died myself. Healer raced through the entire boss fight taking down a medium slime and two small slimes into their tiny forms and killing them. Took about 5 minutes. I cheered my butt off for the girl. It was awesome.

not really epic but was doin a ifrit HM like 3 days ago.. whole party cept myself n another bard got killed ._. every hit the other bard n myself done it would rotate agroo looked like ifirt was dancing in middle of map 1 step left turns around 1 step right turns around repeating over n over again lol
