please bring back the afk auto-kick

Why was it removed? Ever since removing the afk auto-kick feature, making new characters on balmung, is nigh impossible. Why? Because so many people will just park their character some place, and leave themselves connected while they goto sleep for the night, head to work, etc.

And from my understanding, servers are locked because too many people are logged in, but what about when you got people logged in, who aren't even physically at the computer for hours and even days? So please, consider reinstating the afk auto-kick. It should never of been removed.

Another option if auto-afk kick wont be brought back, why not set servers so that if one already has a character on the server, they can make a new character at any time. The population of the server isn't changing. Only the amount of characters the account has on the server. I know games like world of warcraft had such a system, if a server got too full, as long as a player had 1 character on that server, they could make a new alt.

I'm not going to repost all the explanation in the thousand other threads about this issue about how online people are not the real reason behind the server lock out (or rather, are the minimal part of it), as much as the simultaneous log ins in the lobby server. Just know that you should blame those who are logging in at the same time as you are creating a character, rather than those who are already online. You can find the full explanation with the search function.

Or you can click here cause I'm bored enough to go back and search for it: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...s-Restrictions

And here for some more info: http://www.junkiesnation.com/2013/09...ements-part-2/

Anyways, I expect this feature to be brought back momentarily after 3.0, cause while Balmung may not be at maximum capacity right now (server transfer would be locked if that was the case), it probably will with the expansion.

As I recall, FFXI had a system of passwords, so if your buddies were playing on a high volume server, they could give you the password and you could play on there with them, but if you didn't know anyone on the server already, you couldn't.

http://world-alerts.com/ use this if you're to lazy to sit around trying to make a char, most servers open up at like 5am and 7am.

I'm rather glad the AFK auto kick is gone.

I think it was removed due to animus books. If I was auto kicked I would still be waiting for some of those fates, but since they removed it I now have 2 zodiacs instead!
Also, if they hadn't removed it I would still be pvp rank 2 instead of 40. Do you really expect me to sit around the computer for 1-2 hrs+ to join a pvp game.

The only way you can make a character there is if you transfer....Other than that, you're out of luck...forever.
I've tried on weekdays, 3am's and I couldn't get in for 2 weeks...Transferring is no problem, but for some reason making a character is
impossible. I said screw it because I work usually at 9am and have no time to wait. xD! Weekends forget about it.

I would say THE best time is probably right before 3.0, people are still playing around with content we have now, so you have to wait
until people get at the lull of the game, which is right before then. :/

The AFK kick thing was mostly a thing in 2.0 because of the 2002/90k bonanza, after the game went steady it was removed.

There are plenty of people that know how to get around the auto afk-kick so it doesn't really do much good anyways.
