Just like every other MMO today, FFXIV isn't unique in it's easy stuff-0 death penalties.
-Anywhere in the world accessible within a teleport and 30 second run.
-No claiming systems.
-0 difficulty story quests.
-0 difficulty leveling systems.
-Completion of 98% of the game's content without having to make any friends.
-98% of open world content solo'able with minimal gear and minimal effort.
-Access to all the game's instances and dungeons within two clicks of a button.
-No use for trade currency aside from vanity and minor quality of life perks. 1
-Abolition of pure support roles.
..How far the pendulum swings.
I think you did start the game at the begining, and you have rush everything with everyone making things easier for you.
what about thoses "solo" that still have troubles on twintania ? you only see what you can see, easy things for you.
The "- No claiming systems" cancel the competitions against bots claim to be honest and i'm happy as it is now.
the difficulties on quest is set on easy, maybe less for a new gamer, even me had some troubles on some quest, but the thing is, you can reenter as soon as you leave the place, that is what make things easy, mostly because you dont need any potion/food/stuff to win unlike FFXI.
For the leveling, as there is no death penalties, i dont see a fun way to get some exp back, there's already the loss of durability enhanced when you die, it cost money, and for most of newbies, it not so much affordable, i've already got someone saying me he would rather get some dark matter instead of repair to npc.
access to all the game instance & dungeon with the duty, i'm ok with that, it would have been better to make the road. it's what they did for the new floors of Bahamuth's !
and as for the auction house, i must agree, it's mostly... vanity (sick of that term used so many times by Yoshida when he got no answer of the purpose of the new stuff that will be lower than the old one; big up for CT after Bahamuth).

I wonder if in this instance, as with most of these incidents, the people complaining about the game being too easy aren't even doing the hardest content in the game.
I dunno. I wouldn't call any of the story stuff genuinely hard, but a few things are juuust tricky enough to be satisfying.
Example: Chrysalis.
Contrast: Lahabrea fight at the end of Praetorium (a complete and utter joke)
I suspect Chrysalis was them not wanting a repeat of that silliness.
You're posting this because you got swirlied in school-0 death penalties.

This is what bothers me the most. I see where you're coming from, with some I agree and some I disagree but I can also see why the devs would want to make them that way. All but for a true non-main-healing support class, for that I can't see why not.
People in general are lazy and rude to you if you even hint at the possibility that they are lazy. People will complain about every single thing in their lives and how hard it is and how everyone else has everything easier than them. It is a staple of the human condition and will be no different in MMOs. No matter how easy they make these games people will always defend its simplicity and even look for it to be downed more and who the hell are you to say they should have to work for something. People don't want accomplishments, they want accolades. No child left behind, people want to celebrate mediocrity and damn those that suggest they should aspire to more. Such is the species for the most part.
They will say, it's just a game, it shouldn't be hard! Then why isn't every game Chutes and Ladders? Because as we become adults we should seek out new and more challenging ways to grow and learn but some don't. They are happy skating through and doing the absolute minimum and so be it. Doesn't mean that the OP is incorrect, it just means that the OP may be wrong for this game because as people have pointed out, Yoshi intended to make this game for people who have trouble getting the cup holder on their PC to close. This is their game and we're not going to change it. We just have to wait until something deeper comes along, like Angry Birds Online.
Well who made you the judge of all other people? "Judge not lest thou be judged."
And it is a game after all, playing a game is lazy compared to say slaving away flipping burgers or scrubbing toilets no?
Making the game accessible and inclusive is a good design and it allows people with limited time to participate and have fun. Why rage against that? If you want a challenge, why not try to teach new players how to coordinate and beat T9. That is a real challenge and helping them clear on their merits and not carrying them is rewarding game play.
