I feel offended as a gay man to see even some gay guys saying some stupid stuff here.

Um what? Where are Lesbians so openly accepted? They're shunned just as much as males, if not more because they won't even bear children. Before people continue dragging out every single example of gay/bi female NPCs lying around Eorzea, I think it's worth pointing out that this is the first time in the entire game we've seen men portrayed as openly homosexual. Lesbians are, no offense intended, the "okay" sort of homosexual as far as the "straight male" demographic is concerned. Having homosexual men appear is deliberately going beyond that acceptable norm. Which is great, especially for a Japanese game.
In society, I see gay MEN everywhere. I rarely see any lesbians. When people thibk gay, they think gay men.
Why else do you think the red cross doesn't allow homosexual men to donate blood in 2015?
I happen to have been an activist in my state when marriage equality was being debated and voted on. We specifically created ads with lesbian couples, generally middle-aged and older. They were also visually present at press events, instead of younger homosexual couples and especially male homosexual couples. There is quite a bit of polling and public opinion research that goes into these decisions; people ARE far less comfortable with males, especially when they're not older couples. This happens to be directly extensible to other areas, such as what gets shown in movie/television media, and (more relevantly) video games.
However, there has been more willingness recently to depict younger, male couples in spite of public opinion, and that's why something like this is nice.

I thought their appearance was cute and put a smile on my face that SE was willing to go there. But I also like the interracial aspect to it. According to the Dev's the races are all capable of having mixed children with each other and we can expect to see some "Half/Half" racial characters in Heavensward. Looking forward to that.
I'll bet lala/Mi'qote kids are cute as a button!

I was not "If you don't like, don't post" bit, you can post just don't be a jerk about it by attacking me or attacking others, you can discuss about how you feel about those npcs but going "I'm gay and this is offensive to me, OP is a troll, this post should be deleted" is not it. Trust me, I'm not trying to troll later down the pages, I'm trying to lighten up the mood cause people got really serious to the point that many were personal attacking me out of *no where* that's not relevant to the topic of this thread. Like the say go "Some people like to see the world burn" or in this case "Like to pull the trigger of a gun towards the other with a flower in their hand" Yes, I think the black mi'qote is cute, but I'm also like how the couple go off into the sunset after all they been through and I thought that was really cute and sweet. They went off to make the world or *at the least* the palace a better place for those tomberries to live.I didn't have a problem with this thread until I saw Zoralink's post was deleted. At this point, IMO, the OP was of the notion "Omg, I like this, agree with me" and the implied "If you don't like what I like, don't post, plzkthxbye."
The FACT that his post was deleted tells a lot.
I am also 100% pro on the subject, but I don't force my opinions onto others, nor do I make light of it unless called for. People keep saying that one needs to tackle the subject matter in order to make any progress, but, in this case, I do not think that this is the right way to do so, not by a long shot.
Sorry about the title of the thread but MAYBE IF I could have change the title to "NPC couple of Wonder palace" instead of "gay couple npcs" people would be LESS to put up forks by seeing the title and by pass going in the thread but the outcome would just be the same on whats happening in this thread, I thought they were cute and I wanted to congrats SE that they made me go AWW, they be fighting other people judgements and protecting the tomberries safe, instead it got turned into a Homo vs hetro thread. People need to not be so SERIOUS all the time.
Anyway, whats done is done but my statement still rings true, that black miq, gimmie, that one needs a LALA in his life over that other guy =3

I am very surprised people even reacted at all (other then over the sweetness of the NPCs)... there has been a set of male NPCs with one suggesting they are about to do naughty things together since the launch of ARR~!
I periodically visit them to see if they have progressed any XD
In media. As in "lesbians are hawt lol." It's fairly common in Japanese media (and elsewhere) for female characters to be teasingly okay with alternative sexuality, but for men to be absolutely repulsed by it. Because most anime/game creators are straight men who only care about what they want. And as I said, no offense was intended. I was pointing it out because it revolts me, and probably revolts you, too.
That's just it, though, we're not some unified category that must share the same opinion, even if it's yours. Sorry.
<pos>?

Anyways, I just wish people stop getting sensitive and just let people love who they love.
At the end of the day, we're all human so who cares who likes who.
Edit: Why was ZoraLink's first post deleted?

Well Zoralink said he was gay, but didn't agree with the way others of his demographic made it a huge deal as if being gay was something to get excited over and a brand new thing, it embarrassed him.
But I'm assuming because of his opinion on the "attention whoring", he was flagged for stating it and called a "bigot" by others just because of it.
I personally agree with him, people will get tired of it after the millionth thread about "OMGGAYCOUPLEADJKS@(#$*!()!!!" and making it out to be some huge thing when it actually isn't.
Plenty other gay players agreed with him too, and another player pretty much echoed his sentiments.
What I didn't know was that gays could be "Bigots and homophobic" for having differing views on things like this, and just for stating so, I think it's a shame he got reported.I must be the only one on the planet who treats homosexuality as no big deal. Like love is love who cares who it's between. If you create a big emotional scene every time to 'recognize' someone is openly gay/lesbian it just starts to make you look like you are attention whoring and that will create more hate towards the subject.
