I wasted all my Gil

Last week I bought a new ruby choker and thought I have gsm at 50 I should meld it!!! Soooo rngeesus was not looking favorably on me and 3 mil later I got 3 materia on it now I'm down to 30k Gil.
I said well I have 100 levequets, crafting gear so let's level!! I haver made too much Gil but omg crafting in this game is so much fun I got weaver, armorer, and carpenter at all 50 now and am working on different ways to craft.
My main issue is when I'm going for 40 durability mats and I'm trying to hq my rotation is: Iq, sh2, pbp, ht, ht, ht, ht (though here is where I get confused cuz if I see an excellent I use advanced, or if I know I need cp I tot) sh2, advanced, advanced, ( then depending on progress I will carefully synth2 or another advanced) then careful synth 2,I use stone soup or bulliabase cuz I typically need the cp more. However if rng just takes a dump on me then I'll not get any hq.
So to make Gil I've been buying materials and making hq mats then making a profit like yesterday I bought crab legs made crab oil and made about 1400 Gil profit ( legs cost me 100 gil and oil sold for 1500) I haven't made a fortune yet but this is so much fun I'm putting off everything else to do it!!!

if you bought your shards you didn't make 1400gil but either way decent profit margin,

if your gonna be serious about crafting for profit stop wasting your time and gil on making food for low level crafts, use it to get better gear and meld that gear, that way you wont need food and be much more reliable on getting hq, this will increase your profit in the long run.

keep looking for holes in the market that you can easily fill to help make the gil you need to fund it all.

No, you are not being too clear. For instance, I didn't see a question so I don't know what advice to give.

As chidarake said, you have to consider shard cost in your profit / loss equation.

To save money on all the crafting AF, this site will show you how to meld Patrician's gear for two star crafting:

But don't use the L 50 accessories they show, use the iL 55 stuff. It has better stats and higher meld caps.

Try to save some gils for all shareable Artisan's gears (gloves/ pants/ shoes and apron), that way you only need to meld one set of gear. they are fairly cheap now, they are about 1.3 mil each melded on my server (diabolos)
