SE: Please consider moving the NA data center when you stand up the EU servers

I'm an avid reader of the /r/FFXIV subreddit on Reddit. On nearly a daily basis, someone complains about "the lag". As someone who has found a solution to "the lag", I understand that your servers are fine and it is not your fault. However, the location of the data center leads to the issue.

I have 50/50 Verizon FIOS in Washington, DC. This should not have any lag issues. However, without paying for a tunneling service, I get in-game lag every single day during primetime.

I found an exceptional write up concerning this issue and please reconsider the location of your NA data center.

As it stands, some NA players might actually have better service playing on the new EU data center.

Taking a glance at that subreddit, I didn't see anything that supports the argument that you would have better connection speeds to EU than MTL.

More, the post did make statements such ias "The internet is broken" referring to non-verizon customers being forced through Verizon/L3 congestion.

What I don't see in any of these posts, is any supporting data that anywhere in EU will produce different results than anywhere else in NA.

Also, I'm biased. I live near Toronto, and my connection to the servers is amazing. Not all players have this problem with Verizon/L3. Those of us who have good connections, are often not speaking up, because we have nothign to complain about.

If you read and understood the various discussions on the reddit you would know the location of the servers is not the issue. The "pipeline" to the servers is the issue and that is something that SE has no direct control of nor should they be responsible for ponying up the funds to "fix" it by moving the servers to a better maintained "pipeline".

Pretty much this. While technically, it really is the location (since a closer spot to home would likely mean less routing), it just comes down to how many stops your connection has to make. Even if they put it dead center of the US, it doesn't mean that everyone in the nation would have noticeably better connection at all times. It just isn't worth the financial investment at this time probably.
