WoD: Five Headed Dragon / Pyretics

OK it is (hopefully) now well known that while you have this debuff from Heatwave you get damage for every action you do, auto-attacks included.
Though I noticed that there is also a possibility to evade the debuff at all aka not get it. So far I didn't get the buff at looking away from the boss when Heatwave was inc. but also once it didn't work... also for a friend he tried so far always got the buff.
Is somewhere the trick known and I just didnt find it? Or can anyone confirm/clear up how to evade the buff (in case I didnt just find a bug XD )

It sounds like a bug if it doesn't always work. If it was a game mechanic like on the first boss then it would be widely known and passed around because it means that you don't lose a few seconds of DPS stopping actions. The only way i know to avoid the effects is to stand still and do nothing for like 3-4 seconds though it still reks half the raid because they have ADHD and can't stand still for 3 seconds XD.

Well the look away worked so far in 8/9 runs and the 1 run im not sure if I was late. And I have the feeling it is an intended mechanic... people ignore the Pyretics they ignore the look away at Mortal Gaze and co. Maybe we just been to blind to see o.O

This is the first time i've heard of that being possible on this boss i guess i can give it a try and see what results i get. It doesn't really make logical sense i can understand the first boss it's like if you look into it's eye then it casts it's spell on you but you look away and it's like avoiding medusa's gaze. If you turn around you'd still probably be set on fire by the fire covering the arena XD.

You could also report it to SE and ask them if it's a bug for an official word.

I dodged it a few times through the use of Stoneskin

This. Adlo/Stoneskin (Hell even Manawall I think?). Hallowed Ground, even. There's a lot of mechanics in the game which are Damage + Effect (whether actual statuses or just things like a knockback) - and if you take 0 damage, you'll avoid the effect.

In the dozens of runs through WoD I have yet to ever get the debuff from that skill.

So lacking in it ever affecting me that I forgot such a debuff was part of the mechanics.
