Successes - Seeing silly people try to mark up an item that has a history of 15-20K for almost 80K, and then putting up 4-5 for 30K without looking greedy. Thanks, silly people!

The AH in FFXI was a barrel of laughs since you couldn't see the price things were posted for. You'd occasionally get people posting super rare stuff and then buying them back to themselves to show off that they had it. I always tried to snipe one of those but never succeeded- though a guy in a LS I was in managed to score an Algol for 1 gil, he was nice and gave it back to the dude, though.
The dumbest thing I ever did on the MB was probably buying a full set of best man's gear, then bragging about it to my GF who promptly pointed out that it was for sale in Ul'Dah at a fraction of the price I paid. Good times!
hahaha made so made so much day of patch with bestman gear no one could undercut me XD
My biggest success was at the launch of ARR's service. I had already GSM to level 50 from v1, and I clumsily managed to make one of the first few Rose Gold Earrings on Masamune, HQ at 6%
I sold it for 3.5 million gil, which was ample enough to finance my entire crafting career.

It was back in ffxi but my friend bought a dagger from someone's bazaar for 1.5 mil and sold it for 15 mil.
Right when retainer ventures came out (2.2?) and they were broken and bringing back things they weren't supposed to bring back, someone put the Manor Harp on the MB for 25k. I bought it and re-sold it for 1.5mil.
Have found various mistakes by people obviously putting the wrong price on things, but none as profitable as this one.
I haven't needed to try and make money since that patch anyway. I flooded Goblin server with Glazenuts. Probably sold about 60-70 of them for 500k each.![]()
Someone gone and derped, and I was able to get the Opo-Opo for 10k. At the time everything was sold out, and they didn't know to look at this history and just threw it up.
The other time which was my worst moment. Is that during the storymode you get a choice of 3 of the tier 4 matiera and I had settled on one thinking it was worth more than the rest - finding out that it only goes for 50k while the other two were happily in the 400-600k
I got a Baby Opo-opo when Brayflox was still in Expert Roulette, hung onto it and sold it in mid 2.4 for 4.5m gil while everyone else had it listed for 1m or so.
Bought 10 Savage Might 4s for 100k each while they were selling close to 700k each, thanks to a tip from an FC member. Sold them all off at market price in less than 20 minutes, easiest profit I've ever made including primal weapons.
2.5 patch day Listed the first artisan's apron on the server for 4M, checked after my first DR, and saw that I was undercut by 500k. Well I'll show them! Listed my second one at 325,000, instead of 3,250,000... bought within seconds. 10 more were sold that day for ~3mil... sigh... yep... sure showed them.
