    New tanking abilities in the expansion thread!

    Post some cool ideas for new abilities and traits you think would be cool for PLD and WAR to get.

    Here goes for me: A trait that removes pacification from berserk (or makes it 30 seconds)

    A dps "stance" for WAR, like sword oath (axe oath? lol)

    A new WS to end Riot Blade combo for PLD

    Make Steel Cyclone knock mobs back 10 yalms (sort of like mythril tempest in pvp)

    A trait that lowers the recast on Hallowed to 5min (or just do this in general)

    Maybe boost bloodbath potency to 35%?

    Anyway you guys/gals post some ideas!

    I'd prefer that steel cyclone continue to not knock back.

    DPS stance would be cool. But also unfair unless they help the paly out a bit DPS wise.

    Steel cyclone knocking enemies back seems counterproductive. You want to use that to get aggro and also to do more aoe damage..if it knocked enemies back..that would just be irritating and I'd almost feel like it would be a waste to use it

    Add damage to Flash as a PLD or give them a new cone/aoe attack that inflicts damage and that uses mp instead of tp.

    As for warrior, maybe a new defensive cd, but dunno what could it be.

    I was just going to make a thread like this one.

    First, thoughts on suggestions already made.

    - I don't think that WAR needs a dps stance, that is essentially them with Defiance off. WAR already outshines PLD by a good margin as far as damage potential goes, with the exception of a PLD in SwO and a WAR out of Defiance being almost the same with the PLD potentially surpassing the WAR by a small margin.
    - As others have said, a knock back on Cyclone would be more detrimental than helpful, now a pull-in effect could be cool.

    As for things I would like to potentially see.

    - The riot combo getting a 3rd attack that does something useful, like a "takes x% more magic damage debuff" similar to the slashing damage one that WAR has. If not that maybe something like it also has a DoT effect.
    - Someone suggested this a while back and I thought it was great. A trait for PLD that when in ShO, when you block an enemy's attack that enemy takes some damage. This would increase PLD MT dps while staying very true to the PLD style and it would synergize well with Bulwark.
    - An ability available to all tank jobs (maybe can be cross-classed) that has you instantly rush from your location into melee range of your target. Sort of like the warrior's charge ability from WoW or the monk one in this game. It would be very useful during tank/target swaps, some phase changes or when a mob is chasing down someone else and you need to close on it.
    - Another instacast, off-gcd defensive CD for WAR.
    - A trait that reduces the damage taken from Cover, or even better yet that has Cover link off the primary target to then Cover any other party members that are close to the primary target and for every linked member, the damage reduction is increased (ex: just one party member = 20% reduction in damage redirected by cover and then +10% for every other member up to a max of 50%. p.s. these are just numbers thrown out to get the idea across).
    - An increase to the effective distance of Cover, preferably included with the above Cover suggestion.

    Vengence... Foresight... two defensive buffs which are on a shorter CD than most of PLD's buffs, plus there is the major one that is on GCD (Inner Beast) with potentially no CD. Plus, access to Second Wind, and then there is Thrill of Battle and access to Convalescence. Bloodbath as well...

    I'm not saying Warriors don't need ANYTHING, just that they aren't so under privileged as it is.

    My suggestions for Paladins:

    3rd combo hit for Riot Blade - AOE, low potency (like 60 or something), uses equivalent MP as absorbed by Riot Blade.
    Cover takes ALL damage meant for the target, not just physical... reference Sabotender Emperatriz fight in Sunken Temple of Qarn Hard Mode
    New trait on Circle of Scorn - Blocking a enemy's attack refreshes the Circle of Scorn DOT if the Circle of Scorn DOT is already on the enemy.

    Suggestions that effect Paladin:

    Raise can be used in combat, no trait needed. Give WHM something else beneficial, perhaps an increase in passive MP regeneration by like 1% or something. Call it Refresh.

    Suggestions for Warriors:

    Remove the GCD from Steel Cyclone and Inner Beast. We have already done the work to generate the stacks of wrath, don't make us wait longer to use the skill, and it would make Overpower, a huge TP sink, less of a go to for trash pulls.

    ... Don't play warrior enough to suggest anything else... but I think the above would be a huge buff...

    I edited that portion of my post slightly.

    While I agree that WAR is nowhere near as bad off as many people make it out to be as far as defensive abilities, it is still the most asked for addition/change to WAR outside of "fixing" Holmgang and IMO why not give them another one as long as it is balanced, especially if PLD gets stuff that people have been asking for there.

    p.s. I would prefer this to not turn into a "PLD vs. WAR, Us vs. Them" thread and instead be reserved for the presentation and discussion of interesting ideas that could bring new and unique elements to the two existing tank jobs. This is not directed at anyone, just a general hope for civility.
