They stated that artwork could be digital. If so then I don't see why someone using a screenshot and morphing it into a custom valentine's day card for someone would not make that "digital artwork".I have looked through some of the entries and people appear to be forgetting one crucial detail:
These need to be IN REAL LIFE creations! Not screenshots that you photoshopped into pretty pictures. These need to be gifts, essentially, that you can give to another real person. So drawings, pottery, baking, jewelry, knitting, flower arranging, ect.
You can create a drawing irl, scan it and color it in photoshop and that will work, but I don't think that screenshots with letters added onto it will count. Please correct me if I am wrong.
This is actually bugging me so I'm going to expand a bit on my previous post.
While Bayohne didsay that it's not a screenshot contest he also said that both digital and physical artwork will be accepted. I don't personally believe that if someone draws a picture, scans it and then proceeds to plays paint by numbers in photoshop that it makes that art any more valuable as a gift or any more "digital" than if someone takes the time to plan out a screenshot (especially if they play FFXIV as a couple), bring it into photoshop and manipulate the image with the right typography and phrasing.
The end result of both mediums, regardless of how it started, would classify as digital art and I'd be highly irked if I saw anyone's screenshot turned v-day card/poster etc. entry rejected based on the fact it started as a screenshot. If you state you're going to accept digital art then it needs to encompass ALL digital art.

No offense but art (whether digital or RL) is quite hard and strenuous compared to someone adding typography/editings pics. Now if you go to the great lengths of editing your pic for like, hours on end, I can see it falling more into the field of art. But if you're gonna clump someone's 5 mins photoshop edit to someone that most likely spent 3+ hours (usually way more) drawing/coloring/layering a digital picture, I'm gonna have to sorely disagree with you...
Alot of artists use digital art because it saves on supplies and having to scan in art work into their computers, and why does it make it any less valid than real art work? Also we've had two past screenshot contests, and this one is a way for other people's talents to shine through...and just not allow people to take kawaii screens again, cuz honestly anyone can do it if they try hard enough lol.
Mod also delete the post above this one, thought I could edit lol
Really... you don't think that someone's submission that might have started as a screenshot might not have been as strenuous... then I challenge you to go gather 5-10 people, configure every single outfit/emote for each player, find the perfect setting (location/time), line up the PERFECT screenshot, take it into photoshop (filters etc.) figure out the exact message and pick the perfect typography and put it all together. No offense but art (whether digital or RL) is quite hard and strenuous compared to someone adding typography/editings pics. CONT'D
That sort of effort to me could take just as much time as someone drawing/painting digitally. In that scenario the end result is still digital art. The time that it took to make that art is no more or less valuable regardless of if was screenshot based or hand drawn (via tablet).
It's not right to assume that someone who draws/paints digitally spends any more/less time then someone who's end artwork started out screenshot based. What looks like it might have taken 5 minutes in your eyes might not have and the person behind it might have tried really hard to create something special.
It really doesn't matter if you don't think someone whose art starts as a screenshot is less time/effort the plain fact is that the mods came on and said they WOULD accept digital art and technically those modified screenshots should still qualify whether you think they are worthy or not.
