I thought it was fun too! A smidgen too easy though. I got all of mine first try. It took me a second to find Gridania's, but that's because my hint was "chocobo" so I went to the chocobo stables instead of searching around the aetheryte.

I wish I'd gotten something as specific as chocobo. My hint for Grid was "Central Shroud." Seriously, how is that a hint? The least she could have done is told me her beloved's name. It would have been far more useful, and there's absolutely no reason she wouldn't know it!

Agreed. Gridania was the first leg I attempted (because, obviously, I was in Gridania when the three legs of the quest were presented). When I saw that I needed to look for an unknown, unmarked NPC who could be located anywhere in the Central Shroud, EVEN knowing I could rule out the Sorrel Haven area since it's too high-level, I immediately looked up the answer on the Internet. Ain't no one got time fo' dat!

Once I did, though, and noticed that all of the Gridania NPCs were located near an Aethercite, I held off on cheating for the other two, and found them pretty easily. Knowing the Aethercite thing brings the quest difficulty down considerably.

It may Seem a bit hard for people who are a bit new since the hints involve land marks or descriptions as the hints but just remember they all seam to be in a athearite camp.

My hint for Limsa Lominsa was "lockup" and I got the location right, but I couldn't find the NPC. So I thought I had it wrong...and kept looking...for quite awhile.
Then I tried my first hunch again and found him.

That's half the fun for me! Please include more events like this one. I haven't had this much fun since the old days of XI.

I agree. I always enjoyed running through san d'Oria when I reached a new level multiple of 5, talking to every NPC to see which ones had new quests for me.

I hated Limsa. Mostly because my boyfriend and I did Ul'dah, got different hints, and got totally different (and different map) people. So when we went to Limsa and I got "salt" where he got "construction," I ruled out the guy that was his answer the second he found him because I thought it'd be wrong due to the different hints.. Yeah, I went all around Moraby Bay a few times before I talked to the guy on a whim and it was him, even though our hints were different.

When i got the Valentione quests, the hints i got were:

• “Central Shroud” for the Gridanian quest
• “tidegate” for the Limsa Lominsan quest
• “kings” for the Ul’dahn quest

I started scouring the Central Shroud for the NPC, but after searching the entire east side of the map i stopped searching in that area. At that time i was looking for a roaming NPC and the quest explicitly mentioned that the NPC would not display a quest icon. Since i knew that the Tidegate was quite a bit smaller than the Central Shroud, i figured i should go there instead.

After circling through both the North and South section of the Tidegate, talking to every NPC i bumped into. No dice… (T_T ) So, i figured that i should check the towns instead… After looking NPC i haven’t seen before in the smaller (key) locations, i managed to find all 3 of them soon afterwards.

Yep.
I got "Sunway" for Ul'dah, "salt" for Limsa, and "chocobo" for Gridania.

The resulting people were found in:

Ul'dah: Black Brush Station (boyfriend got king, found the person in Horizon - when I tried to talk to him, he got mad and said the letter "wasn't my <mushy name>'s handwriting and the scent was atrocious" and that I had the wrong guy.)
Limsa: Around the docks in Moraby Bay (boyfriend got construction, but it was the same person for both of us)
Gridania: Bentbranch, sitting on a stump by the aetheryte (we had the same hint)

Yes there are a few different hints. But the simple idea is they will be near the aetheryte. My bond mate got sunway as a clue. Only problem... there's 2 of them atleast. And the one in eastern thanalan comes up as the first idea since it's a rather large landmark on the map.
