Since the chips cost gil, and chips can't be traded, in the future more expensive chips might be bought for more lucritive rewards too.

From what i've seen is a couple mounts and some glamor gear which most everyone eventually will earn, so if they continue to add content and items, the higher level chips might be bought to obtain them. So perhaps the chips are sorta tiered costing more gil? Idk it's not even out yet, but could be plausible.

It's not that gated when the game literally throws gil at you for doing content you do anyway through the challenge log.

You know you're gunna be spending gil on chips, so it's hard to ignore that the GS is truely free, unless just playing basketball for no incentive or reward appeals to you, you might as well just play parley in your inn room all day.

Casinos don't charge entrance fees (tournaments are an exception)

But GS is casual content so anything for a one time fee should be ranging from 100-500k.
Cuz it really shouldn't be something that is expensive as a small housing or something elusive as only the rich can enjoy lol.
Imo they should make it the new mor so all the ppl who afk there can now afk in GS so it can add to the population and make it feel more like a casino lol.
We all want those mounts and vanity stuff from GS so lets not gate it just for established level 50s.

Umm why? Gold saucer is all just glamour and mini games right? Unless they will give us free tokens(not sure if they have a name yet) we will already have to spend some gil to begin playing and continue spending if we lose and cant earn enough to play without gil. What would really be the benefit, so ppl cant afk there? So we see less shouts? Yeah that's crazy. Who cares where someone goes afk and why worry about shouts. Imagine the rampant number of tells you will receive from gil sellers without having an entrance fee. With a time limit and entrance fee you just guaranteed that everyone there is a prime target for gill seller harassment

To be fair, I think it's been proposed to remove the aetheryte costs already since they're mostly just an annoyance except for the worst of gil managers. But yeah, I agree with everyone else, it's silly to impose arbitrary restrictions on casual content that's meant to be enjoyed by a large amount of people regardless of their status. The only reason you have the tokens is to prevent people from buying the prizes with gil, so I doubt the Casino currency itself is going to cost much either. I kinda get your idea, I guess, but who honestly thinks of the Gold Saucer and goes "Damn, paying an entrance fee REALLY brought it to life"?

I'm almost certain his post was a sarcastic response to the OP.

And no... no no no... to the entrance fee. It's meant to be a bit of casual fun. The minute you start gating things behind fees, one time or otherwise, and other petty wallet snatches it ceases to become a 'bit of fun'. Gold saucer isn't somewhere you're about to get your new BiS Excalibur 9000. It's to kick back and have some enjoyable fun with friends or solo.

However, I DO agree with imposing an afk 'kick' of about 30 mins. Anyone who's long term AFK isn't interested in playing the game at that point anyway.
