They can't seriously have expected that to go over well (and it hasn't, we're just a lot quieter than the Lala fans). The faint possibility remains that they thought it was an okay ending because there are already plans for the story to continue.

I'm holding out to see if the tail end of the MS quests in Part 2 do something to tie the now-concluded Binding Coil and CT storylines back into continuity (as they have a few times already). And if Minfilia knows there's a fountain of infinite energy in her backyard with a sympathetic gatekeeper, oh the places they can go with that.

Lore-wise, there are specific reasons for why male Miqo'te are exceedingly rare. The relative dearth of them in story content makes perfect sense in that respect. For all the other races/sexes, there's no lack of representation at all.

Still, it would be good to see more catdudes around. The conclusion of G'raha's storyline did feel super-abrupt.

What the paladin gets is a replica of the Excalibur, or what Gilgamesh calls it the "Excalipoor", which is the lore reason why we can see other players have a copy of FF14 Excalibur as well.

Gilgamesh is still the same Gilgamesh that travels the Void and he is looking for the True Excalibur which he will eventually obtain as his history has shown due to the existence of Post-Excalibur Gilgamesh.

Or ascend to godhood. Kefka fans like to gloss over this slice of information, but Sephiroth never intended to destroy the world. He counted on the lifestream saving the world from Meteor. That's why he moved to the cave where the lifestream will burst out. To merge with it and become all powerfull. Of course in the end he probably would have conquered the world as well, but the first step was godhood.

    EDIT: I want your mask.

    As for Hildibrand Season 2...

Episode 1 we focus on a case to find Hildibrand and the legendary sword Excalibur while running into Greg again. To find them we use the Hildibrand Thinking Emote and at the end of the episode we get one cliffhanger and the Hildibrand Thinking Emote (aka /hildythink) as our reward.

Episode 2 we meet Briardien again for the next case and he tells us how Ellie is doing during his time in prison then continue the search for Excalibur. Once the case is over and the next cliffhanger is done we are rewarded the Adjust Glasses Emote (aka /adjust)

Beyond this I do not know...
I doubt it. Excalibur is already wieldable as a zodiac brave weapon so serching for a weapon you can find 10 copies of in Revenant's Toll would not be a compelling story.

Where in the XIV lore (not XI lore) is this written?
They are shy, but there is no word about rare

And also the sunseekers men can go and do whatever they want, if they don't plan to become a Nunh.

You really don't know Gilgamesh's story and his long journey to find the True Excalibur do you?

Those copies are not what Gilgamesh is looking for. He seeks the True Excalibur, the Sword of Kings, the Ultimate Sword of Swords, the 1 hit KO OP Sword of Justice, and what every title call a Sword powerful enough to 1 hit KO anything. That is what Gilgamesh is looking for so the story can work since those copies are just Excalipoors.

They're around; the "males aren't born often to Miqo'te" is stated in the naming conventions post, but I'm not sure where else: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ng-Conventions

Furthermore, the character selection screen singles Miqo'te males out as being particularly solitary, as you've noted. There really are just countless reasons why we don't see males very often.

Letting one prominent male Miqo'te stick around for longer than a single questline would hardly invalidate the established lore. Just sayin'.

It's stated in quite a few places that there's a low male birthrate, mostly because a lot of miqo'te clans are like lion prides: One male and a large number of females, if the "U" clan is any indication.
Thus, while that doesn't mean there aren't males, most of them are wandering around and not sticking to one single place. Note that most of the miqo'te males we meet fall into specific categories: Wandering scholars like G'raha, leaders of tribes like the U guy, and adventurers like the guy from the unlock quest who's hanging out with his boyfriend.
So basically, all the male miqo'te players probably constitute the majority of the population of male miqo'te not tied down for the simple reason that it's an occupation most male miqo'te not tied down would actually do.
Which leads to the amusing fact that the ratio of male:female miqo'te players is probably close to the actual birth ratio in the game...
