What you would find then is people lotting on gear they can't use, simply to trade it in for gear they can use so they don't have to do WoD again that week which would sort of negate the whole idea of doing the run to get the gear you want/need.

Thats not what he is saying at all. He said if you had gear from that week that you mis lotted you could trade it to try to lot something else, not trade it for the item you wanted.
