In my opinion, the problem with hunts is the same problem with all other content: that different content in the end all give the same rewards, gear. While FFXIV is designed to be a theme-park MMO, it isn't.

If hunts were to give something completely unrelated to gear, then only those interested in those rewards and those actually interested in the hunt would do it. All the drama about early pull and so on exist because people are not in it for the hunt, they feel they're forced to do this for the gear, so they want to get it over and done with.

Same thing with the drama about looking down on people not geared enough to do mass pull speed runs in the Roulette.

Have the reward structure diversify, and many of the social problems in FFXIV could be solved.

If it's the player's intent to get others upset (and on farmfruit, there's pretty much an entire FC of players who do this just for shits and giggles and make no attempt to hide it), it sounds like griefing to me.

It's a matter of the higher-ups actually doing something about it or drawing a clear line. They've already stated before that you can't really justify kicking players or mark it as griefing for "playing differently". Is it "early pulling"? Well no. Is the player a douchebag? Probably, considering that they're leeching off most ofmy LS's call outs, yet keep their own call outs to themselves. Can they be punished for being a douchebag? Most of the time, no. On the other end, is the intent of the player griefing when they reset a hunt mark? Why is that considered griefing when open trolling in CT raids isn't? It's all really backwards and just makes for a bad system in general.

I'm still on the side of "hunts was an absolutely terrible gimmick in 2.3, and still is in 2.5". Even if you're actively hunting or in a linkshell or two, unless you're in the same zone and aetheryte teleport (in the case of ELN), you're not getting to even an S rank in time because they will drop in a matter of seconds against the swarm of ilvl 120+ players. And all of that is not including the increased load times or the rendering issues that still persists.

I think that Hunts ARE working as intended. I mean, SE had more than 6 months (SIX) to fix them since they first came out, but they still made the same mistakes as the last time (maybe they made them even worse now), so I guess that for SE there are no issues with Hunts at all.

How about hunters get double the reward for killing an A/S-Rank, but they can only get the rewards once per rank a day (rest of the day only GC seals are dropped, so yeah, a reward but not enough to grief over)? Increase the spawn rate of A/S-ranks too (one person can't hunt 'em all! Also: No so big a deal to miss one if another will pop relatively soonish), and the rewards of current daily hunts (50 for FATEs and 10 for regular mobs, so 130 Allied Seals daily if you have the patience to wait for NM FATE spawns, or 30 if you don't) to spread the hunters out a bit.

I don't get the people who Complain. I understand that it sucks. But... Suck it up? Seriously. There's no rules made by se saying "well you found it now you have to wait for everyone" technically it's first come first serve. The real greifers are the people pulling it off others to reset it for the hord of randoms that are 2 minutes behind in other areas that are asking for people to wait.

I don't hunt much, but I see it as first come first serve. If I miss out, oh well. It'll pop again another time. If you can't handle that then go do something else

Problem with hunts are the return of the Elitist Hunts groups. Makes it really difficult to get any hunts in if not part of that sort of group.
Especially if they pull off stuff like resetting hunts for there members and so on...
Perhaps also within it the real issue at hand because of elitists existing is that you can get carbontwine from hunts.
I swear many of these people do not know how to actually play their class, they think ilv=skill, lol

My theory as to why people may have settled down a bit has to do with how daunting the seal grind initially seemed in this recent patch. Now that everyone has a couple of twines or more in their possession and can finally see the light at the end of grind tunnel, a missed HM is no longer such a strong source of apparent pain and suffering.

All in all this is just another mark on the board of complaints by people, and the circle will start again soon lol. Either they'll make hunts drop something else for a new set of 140 or 150 gear, or they'll make something new that will get absolutely over run or somehow done a way that a group doesn't like.

It's just how games always go. One side complains, things go another way the next big change, and then the other side complains. It'll forever be a back and forth battle.

This is how world bosses in WoW worked, with only one alliance having claim rights and creating a competitive atmosphere. SE clearly doesn't want these to be competitive but communal instead so yes, I do view them as a server buffet. Hunts are one of the few events that bring a server together, if briefly, and I found sharing my find to be incredibly rewarding when hunts first arrived. It's only when friends get screwed over because of griefing that it becomes unfun and in need of redesign.

Here's my fix for hunts. Remove rewards unless you have the mark bill for it. Insanity solved.
