I'll admit, as a tank, I mostly due what I think you might consider blasphemy. The silent speed run. I guage peoples probably competence by their HP, not even looking at their specific gear, and I try to pull what I think is best for the group. If I upset people by going slow, I'm sorry. Sometimes my groups wipe. You know what? I'm OK with that, and I ALWAYS apologize for it. If I'm pushing you to your limits, and we wipe, but I didn't give you warning, that's completely my bad.

I stopped running dungeons as healer or tank, I rather deal with the long que time then try to make everyone happy.

Its a game, play to have fun but try not to let your "fun" impede other people's "fun".

Nobody should force others to play the way they want, but remember when you are stubbornly refusing to do things in a group that they want, you are forcing them to play your way and end up doing the very thing that you don't want others to do to you.

Basically everyone just needs to let go of some of the selfishness and ego that we are all guilty of and learn to adjust to the people we are interacting with for everyone's benefit. Work with people, not against them. These are the basics of social interaction, ingame and in real life.

WHM not popping Cleric Stance and fast-clutching into Holy with Swiftcast is simply a waste.

You can get what, 8? Seconds where the tank isn't being hit, and shave off 1/3rd of the mobs health. Its a massive help, even vs just three mobs, though its far more worth the MP cost when its a large group.

There is literally zero reason to not do it, there are only pro's and no cons. The mobs are stunned, they die faster, the tank is safe.

People also need to place themselves in the situation, how would you feel about a bard simply auto attacking? Monks who dont move around the mob? WHM who stands there picking nose while a maxed out tank is barely shaving away health.
It is /rude/ to not be putting forth at least a marginal amount of effort if everyone else is.

There's nothing wrong with that or trying to go a little or a lot faster. I'm posting against people harassing others over it, or trying to force people into different playstyles that makes them feel stressed out and to thank courteous players who aren't mean about it.

No, not entirely, your statement included the use of an epithet and differed in tone thanks to that. Your post implies that you think it's OK for players to demand that others conform to their expectations, such as demanding that healers DPS, or tanks pull the entire trash pack at once - effectively telling that other player how to play.

What it comes down to is, even if the 3 random people I end up with in DF want to speed run something, I will more than likely not do it because I don't enjoy it, and it's simply not something I am comfortable doing. You would say that means I am telling the others how they have to play, but that is not the case at all. I am simply saying I don't want to or can't play the way that they want me to, but I am more than happy to run within my comfort zone. If the other folks in a duty don't like that, then I'm sorry, it's really not my problem. That's not a lack of respect, that's not me telling them how they should play, it's simply me being brutally honest about what I will/will not do, and what I am/am not comfortable doing.

If you can't see that, then, again, I am sorry, but that is not my problem.

The problem with what you said is that everything you stated is relative to *your* judgement of what another player should/should not be doing. I'd have thought being that judgemental and voicing that judgement would be vastly more rude than being the player who isn't comfortable popping cleric stance and holying as you wish.

And good for you if you think you're special because you can DPS and heal at the same time, or tank in sword oath. Don't expect the others to care about it though.

I agree, but as a rather important aside, some mobs are immune to stun. Don't leave your tank with no HoTs while you're Holy spamming if this is the case. Please. :V
