yeah i have heard that installing ffxiv on a ssd will get rid of the lag and stuttering, but im not about to spend some ridiculous amount of money just because they SE havent optimized the game well enough lol

Your problem is thinking the Benchmark they put out means anything. The thing is trash and doesn't represent your in game performance in the least. The benchmark hasn't been updated at all and doesn't take full effect of any modern hardware.

The benchmark is actually based on the early beta build. At one point during the beta there was a round of engine optimizations that made it obsolete.

This game is very CPU bound. I am thinking that for FFXIV that athlon is a bottleneck for you. In games that are GPU bound, you may notice nice big gains but not in FFXIV. I got my biggest increase when I went from a Phenom II to my i7 2600k. And even then, I got even more performance when I overclocked from the stock 3.4ghz to 4.8ghz.

I got the same performance with 3.0 and 4.2Ghz. But I only use 2 GPUs after all... 3Ghz is highly recommended for this game though. Don't believe the lies on the games box xD

lol hmmm perhaps i have put a bit too much stock in the benchmark, honestly i have no other trouble with any games and my cpu never goes to 100% all the time even in ffxiv. if the ssd's can help the lag quite well then il consider an upgrade when they are less pricey:P

    thanks all
