Need Some Help with Higher Lv Crafting/Gathering

Hey everybody, I'm a fresh lv 50 crafter/gatherer- unfortunately, I have no idea how to upgrade my gear (quest or what?) so that I can make/get higher star/tier items. Anything u guys can tell me to get there would be great. Also, in your opinions- which classes would be the most lucrative between what I have (GMS,WVR,LTW{soon},BTN,MIN)? Thank you in advance for those who respond.

There's a few avenues further. You can slot materia into the level 55 set, purchase level 70 gloves after beating the Ixali beastman quests, you can turn in items to obtain the level 70 items, or you can purchase the level 60 crafted armor and slot materia into that (FAR more expensive than the level 55, but higher stat caps). If you're going for a cheap route, I imagine you could slot materia into your level 55 accessories, as those won't be replaced, and hope that with food and possible an FC buff that you have the stats to craft the items to turn in for level 70 gear. That should net you the stats to start crafting the level 60 sets (which are better as you can add materia to them, you can't to the level 70 items) and off-hand. As for mainhand, that only progresses via turning in items. There's a level 70, level 75, and level 90 variant of each mainhand, each requiring progessively harder items to turn in.

And no, you can't trade the items that you need to turn in.

This site will show you how to get 2 star crafting with a set of Patrician's gear. But there are better accessories now than they show.

    http://www.garytay.net/ffxiv-craftin...crafting-gear/

This is a LOT cheaper than going the 8 sets of AF route.

This site will give you info on melding caps:

There is a gathering melting thread under Disciples of the Land.

Do the Ixal beast tribe quests.

    Work toward your artisan's specs.

Actually... I believe that with the ixali gloves, and melded level 55 accessories plus HQ level 55 artifact armor, you might be able to get the items for artisan's gear without melding anything that will get replaced.

Actually you can do 2 star crafting with max melded HQ Patrician's gear and 2.1 accessories. And 2 star buys Artisan gear.

But use the iL55 accessory set. Follow that link in my last post Urth.

I meant UNMELDED level 55 AF gear. The idea being that you aren't melding anything that will be replaced.

Agreeing with Urthdigger on this one. Pick a single crafting class, craft the full AF for that, and earn your Artisan's gear with that class for the others.

Materia Melding is an absolute nightmare once you get to the overmeld point. I've spend enough gil on materia to meld to buy at least two pieces of HQ Artisan's gear off the Market Boards, just from a combination of sheer quantity required, the obscenely high prices of materia, and trying to hit that 19% chance after twelve attempts on a single slot.
