Because there are other ways to do it. The beauty of coil is that you can be creative depending on your group set up. If you have dps issues for reaching whatever amount Bennus you want, have the healers do it. If your dps is hitting 4 Bennus comfortably with the bard/smn doing that mechanic then more power to that group

Kinda like 4 renaulds vs 1 renauld, LoS or briar, t8, 3 healer strat in t2 back then. The list goes on and on.

I guess the only thing we can talk about here is....which is more efficient? I for one think the bard doing it is pretty efficient. Healers doing it is also pretty viable too imo

I -for one- am happy to hear of groups that don't leave everything up to the healers. I already feel like a majority of the time, the healers basically throw the run on their backs and do what they do. Mechanic? Give it to the healer. Heavy healing needed with mechanic? Give it to the SCH. Need to heal, do mechanic, AND dps? Give it to the SCH.

As the raid SCH who ends up being the main healer, I stare at the MNK with envy who does literally no mechanic ever in T12 while I have to pass brands, main heal tanks. T10? Every prey was all SCH, including the mitigation for rips. So much swiftcast. I stared with envy at everyone else when our SMN was on break for T7 and I became the kiting substitute. T11 is glorious because it's lazy hour for healers!

Yeah. I only know a few groups on Gilamesh that use healers.

The DPS checks are a joke now, but I personally want to down the turns as fast as possible to move onto other things for the rest of the week, so if heals can do anything to help I prefer it.

    edit:

I volunteer to do as many mechanics as possible. If I'm not running off my feet for the whole raid, I get bored to tears. Also I hate T11. It's boring. :S

It's great for learning mechanics to basically have to do everything, but the DPS need to share the boredom. XD
Personally, though, I'm never bored because if I'm not healing, I'm dpsing. We make dps checks and our BLM tends to look at reddit while he's fighting. I wish. :/
In other words? You wanna reddit cause you're bored? Lemme give you a mechanic. Let me go on reddit!

I DPS a lot too. Still boring, because all I do is DoT/keep up shadow flare and refresh. IDK, I guess I'm just easily bored(and needy lol).

Turn 12 is my favorite turn. I play scholar and handle running the bluefire mechanic. During progression our bard was refreshing his dots without realizing it was causing 100+ dps loss in p2. I pointed it out and it was an easy fix but I begged to take over the mechanic anyway because it looked like so much fun.

I find it really interesting how other people handle this phase.

It is because of min-maxing. Why do people do this? Because they want to push out every performance they can. While as of now the difficulty of FCoB have been dumbed down due to gears and of course, experience, but keeping yourself on the edge every week by pushing yourself allows yourself to stay fresh. Groups like CL/Lucrezia pushes numbers every week and I understand that Lucrezia still runs Savage in 2.3 gear here and there to maintain their mechanics handling skills. They would still clear FCoB every single week by pressing 1-2-3 and producing sub-par DPS but that isn't an option to them.

While you man think that you are envious that your MNK does literally no mechanics but just punching the boss on T12, they carry a burden as well. The burden to produce top notch DPS because they aren't doing any mechanics. People will look at the parser and say, so how much did our top DPS do? 500 only? What junk! 550? That's expected. 600? Nah you don't receive praise either because you have been sitting on the boss. That's MNK for you.

I'm always trying to push harder in FCoB, still trying to push myself harder for less troughs and more peaks. From doing FCoB with MNK and starting it with SCH theres pretty much equal pressure on both, albeit much of it is self imposed due to reasons I stated.
