Something's been bugging me about WoD

I queue as black mage, get put in the dungeon. There's only ONE other black mage in the alliance and he is put in the same group as me so if black mage loot drops we are rolling against each other.

I realize sometimes people group together even full 8 man groups queue together and what not but I really don't think the sorting of class/jobs is even a factor it just plops you together randomly?

    /meh/

I take it there were also zero Summoners, because they can lot as well. Because they can lot as well, I'm fairly certain the DF server tries to minimize queue times otherwise we'd all get to enjoy considerably longer waits while it tries to create optimum party set ups. It also has to take into account pre-made or partially pre-made groups so sometimes the composition of the parties probably gets thrown off from what it would like to have. Some of my FC mates and I went earlier and we were mostly bard DPS but we also had a Scholar with us so it tossed us into WoD with 4 Bards and a Nin for DPS. It's an imperfect system but most of the time I think it does a fairly decent job at matching people up.

Yeah, optimum party setups. Like this party I was just in where all of the dps were bards. Yup.

I'm talking about sorting what you already have after the queue. Like this group I'm in right now. Group B has 2 scholars, group A has 2 white mages, group C has a scholar and white mage. Why can't 1 of the white mages move to group B and swap out one of the scholars? I don't mean we wait longer in queues for optimum parties but it shouldn't take long to sort what's already there better.

I had the exact opposite problem once. Queued in as a black mage, the other dps's were two blms and two smns...and not a single piece of casting gear dropped.

DF isn't smart like that. It basically has certain things it likes to look out for but for the most part, it wants to gather people together ASAP. It takes the first person to queue and puts them into a slot that fulfills its requirements. The next one goes to the next available place. If one SCH queues, it'll put them into the healer spot. If the next one to queue is a SCH, it'll put them in the second healer spot. According to the DF, both can heal so it's cool in its programming. Just because it's not "ideal" doesn't mean it wants to delay the queue for everyone else.

People should be grateful that the DF isn't crazy strict. Imagine having to wait for tanks because DF specifically wanted a PLD rather than a WAR. I see a lot of WARs in WoD and if we had to wait for a PLD to grace us with their presence that would be awful. Likewise if I was on SCH and was forced to wait for a WHM. Two healers of the same type can do the same job. It shouldn't matter to you or to the DF.

This just sounds like you're upset over the fact that out of the entire alliance, the only other person who could roll against you was in your party. So, unfortunately you have extra competition for gear. *shrugs* Big deal. It's something everyone has to deal with.

The DF is set to prioritize a set up of mixing melee and ranged DPS, but often there are just a lot more ranged DPS since they're "easier" to play. And for WoD a lot of people just want to turn their brain off, so they play as BRD and BLM.
Thus, you see entire teams of BRDs and BLMs.

Why is this only becoming an issue with WoD? Same way when ST had a lockout, and LoTA.

I think it's become an issue because people are frustrated with the drop rates. People were complaining about ST drops but I've seen more WoD RNG threads than the old ST ones.

With people having to already deal with multiple WoD runs for their stuff not to drop, when it actually does, they want it to be a sure in.
