    How do I get people to join my new FC?

    I just made an FC called Thorny Guardians on the Phoenix server.
    This is named after a group I started on the bungie forums for Destiny. The original group has over 900 members. I want to grow my new FC in FFXIV but I am unsure how to since this is my first MMO. I just started playing two weeks ago.

    That's a question that depends a lot on context and specific details. For a start, advertise to your destiny group and some that are curious to try FFXIV will probably follow. Random advertisements in shouts and on the forums won't get you that many... FFXIV is pretty established... but it will get you a small trickle.

    Well you can do what my fc does.. spam invites in new player area..
    you will have people leaving of course but it will help you built a foundation quickly and many new people still stay.

    Having a Facebook page or an official website can attract new plauers.. offering TeamSpeak or ventrillo server for people to talk may keep people around ..

    There's a lot of new people joining daily so capitalize on it.

    Honestly? I think the first thing you should do is learn more about the game before attempting to make a large FC. An FC thrives best when it has a purpose, since that gives a reason for folks to join and stay. If you're just making a large FC for the purpose of having a large FC, that's not as persuasive as one dedicated to helping newbies, or practicing cutting edge content, or RP. And as the LS leader, other people will expect you to be an expert in whatever area you choose.

    ^^^^ Exactly this!

    You can't run and keep a large FC unless you are a good leader. This means: Being on regularly, having an in depth knowledge about the game, helping new players, organizing events, removing bad seeds, and many other things. Sure you can create an FC and invite tons of ppl, but if you don't have the qualities of a good leader, they won't stick around.

    I see. I don't know anything about this game. I just need to have some people to play it with. Some of the people from the Destiny group have this game aswell and know much more about MMOs. But I can't just join someone else's FC. I have to be the leader of my own one. I don't like being in a position where people are trying to push me around. So its best if I'm in a position of control.

    I'm in agreement with Urthdigger here. You have no experience with this game and no aim, except "lots of people to play with". Players generally lean toward either grouping up with friends from other games or rl, or joining fc's that are already fairly established and have active members, so... Doesn't sound like you're gonna get anywhere quickly unless you're willing to start small and work your way up. If that's the case, you can start with a group of friends or even random players who are new too and willing to learn together, build up your knowledge, experiences and ability as a group while working on your fc's rank and eventually look into getting a house and then the recruiting should come easier.

    I guess a few things that you can consider though, that might help;

    What kind of player are you? Casual or hardcore? Endgame oriented, or are you more of a crafter? I'm not sure exactly what your experiences with Destiny, I'm not familiar with that game but if there are elements there that you enjoyed that are similar to things in xiv, or how dedicated you were to certain things and how much time you spent on them, that might help you figure out what your overall playstyle is. Also, taking some time to learn the ropes, progress your character and open up some of the endgame areas and other things that are available post 50 will help you figure this out too.

    Also what goals do you want to accomplish in-game. This probably ties in a lot with what kind of playstyle you have, but part of building a strong group is to know what your ultimate goal is and to build a community around you of people who share common goals and interests. Like do you want to establish yourself in endgame, build a good static and are you progression oriented.. or do you just enjoy helping others through low level or mid-core content and want to build an active group that is dedicated to doing so? Things like that. Take the time to plan out what you want your fc to accomplish aside from just being large and giving you plenty of people to play with, because chances are it's gonna be a very different experience from what you're used to.

    Good luck.

    That's not always true... My FC leader is the same way about not liking other guilds and always makes his own. But then again he been playing XIV from day one of 1.0 bate and was a 10 year+ vet to XI LOL .. So the way I see it is if you don't mind being a small guild for same time go for it ^_^ it's you're time and money play you're way!
