Question about how i-Level is Calculated

    Hi,
After about 15 minutes of web searching,
the Square Enix forumla for iLevel calculation
    appears to be elusive.

    Example:

    100 - Main Hand
    100 - Head
    110 - Body
    100 - Hands
    100 - Waist
    120 - Legs
    100 - Feet
    100 - Neckless
    100 - Earrings
    100 - Bracelet
    100 - Ring
    120 - Ring

iLvl = 103 as displayed in attributes
    Mathematical average iLevel = 104.167
    1250/12 = 104.167

    Disparity becomes 1.167

Anyone know the Square Enix iLvl formula?
    Thanks

Hmm something off in your calculations. I did mine and it came out to what it says. It must adjust something because you have no off hand, maybe.

Add an extra 100 for "Invisible" Off hand due to PLD shield calculation/offhand tools and divide by +1 1350/13 = 103.84

Perhaps if you are a main hand only job, it copies the ilvl of the main hand into off hand and counts it as another slot.

That's the only thing I can think of.

I believe your weapon is weighted as two slots if it's a two hander.

From what I remember, Left side gear is weighted more heavily than Right side accessories. Or at least it feels that way. It took me like 40 iLvl worth of accessory upgrades to see the iLvl go up by 1.

    Sum of all item level.
    Divide by 13.

For jobs with no off-hand, multiply main hand item level by 2.

    In your example:

    100 - Main Hand (200 item levels)
    100 - Head
    110 - Body
    100 - Hands
    100 - Waist
    120 - Legs
    100 - Feet
    100 - Neckless
    100 - Earrings
    100 - Bracelet
    100 - Ring
    120 - Ring

    = ( 200 + 100 + 110 + 100 + 100 + 120 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 120 ) / 13
    = 1350 / 13
    = 103.846153~

Value is floored (everything is ignored after the decimal) by the game, so you need 1352 total item levels for it to read as 104.

    ---

In other words, the majority of the time you go up "10" item level on a piece of gear, you should gain 1 average item level (10 out of 13 times). Two-handed weapons, of course, are worth 20 points, so will always gain 1 levels, with a decent chance of giving 2.

    total weight is always 13.
if you can equip a shield with your weapon (sword, 1handed mages club/wand) its weight is 1
    else its weight is 2

    It does no such thing.

40 item levels upgrade on your right side is going to always give you +3 (with a very tiny chance of 4) extra average item level.

It is one of the reason why accessories, which are cheaper in poetics produce a bloated itemlevel (they do not provide as much stat, but provide as much iLVL). Compounded with the arrival of CarbonCoat, this is making the majority of the population reach a higher itemlevel, with lower stats than someone with as many Left-side pieces.

There's no difference when factoring the ilvl number, but in general those slots are more potent.

Someone with 5 left side 120 and 5 right side 100 will have better stats than someone with 5 left side 100 and 5 right side 120.

Weapon is the biggest factor, body/pants are next, then head/hands/feet, then belt/accessories. You could put belt ahead of accessories because it has VIT and an additional stat, but the rest is the same.
