Hey, I run into the crowd to attract fire and waste enemy cooldowns as a Tank. I also happen to be there when they over-extend themselves to snipe own a mage.
I'm also on the objectives like white on rice.
All those situations need heals. Kind of the Tank's job to 'seeem' reckless to draw fire. Most the time I have my hand hovering over Hallowed Ground.

This is why I refuse to play frontlines even though I could make a kings ransom just desythnsising tons of pvp gear for expensive craft mats, its just not fun for healers and we can't do anything with the amount of burst damage.
At least on old frontlines (which no body does anymore) you had tactics, everyone stood at the flags and didn't run into a huge group of enemy's so it was simpler to heal even with interrupts and its not like we didn't have responsibility because usually if the healer(s) died, the group in a flag battle would usually follow.
I've seen tank's health going up and down like someone was playing 'ping-pong' with it, you can barely keep them alive for some time with Adloquium and Lustrates, solo healing as a SCH is impossible when the enemy team knows how to focus people either... I told my team at the beginning you need at least a 2nd healer but no one wants to switch, so they all died.![]()

I don't see any complaints about lack of heals. But what the hell. I can ninja maybe 2 kills a match if i am lucky. That means only 2,500 matches till i get achievement. There is no bonus besides doing a good job.
Knocking down count as kill too. Healers should knock players as much possible. And it is way more effective than normal kills too cause nobody is gonna instantly ress those players that are knocked down. WHM can knock every 30 sec and scholar every 2min aoe. But be carefully since tanks have knockback too + bard + summoners garuda.
I am a BRD most of the time but I can play a bad back up healer. (I spam Stoneskin and medica 2 it a not bad way of living though a BLM LB storm.) So I get what you are saying.

But we are so stressed with healing, its impoosible to do this effectively.
You do realize that the objectives are the largest point source in any game and that the objective credit is given to the team that produced the most damage, right?
Let's ignore the assassination component of melee to enemy teams for a moment. Melee DPS are powerful tools for objective control, ignoring all other factors they actually benefit from. Calling them a liability isn't accurate.
