EU Datacenters - (News please)

It has been over half year since EU servers been brought up for first time think it was sometime during vacation then again at fanfest. Late November we got some tweet from Koji Fox that pretty much said same thing "Eu servers are coming" kind of like confirming something already confirmed.

Now i understand its rather complicated process technically and logistically and it takes time and all that but theres just handful of european countires with proper network infrastructure to pick from.
I think its about time weve got some update on the subject dont you think?

I know this has been brought up many times before but personally im getting tired of waiting its been well over a year since and were still have to rely on 3rd party softward in order to play this game ie. WTFast/Battleping/Pingzapper.

In case of my FC most of people use one of those because without the delay is intolerable and theres no way it will get better as long as we have to connect cross continent.
The way i see it the money is already on the table and were paying extra just to be able to play personally i wouldnt mind those money went to SE instead while having a reliable connectivity.

So whats the big fuss about you may think - well WTFast and such programs are UNRELIABLE our FC past month raids have been nothing but plethora of problems with VPN either its laggy or they lagspike or worst case scenario crash. Im frustrated everytime i get to raid cause i know theres going to be WTFast server roulette and fishing for a stable setup and then pray it doesnt go bad midraid. So yeah if that faisl what do you do cause im definetly not moving to Canada.

I cant think of how many people actually left the game because of the lag issues with Heavensward coming i guess it would be somewhat of a chance to get those back i dont know but with no EU servers i certainly wont bother with it. I can understand at launch SE didnt expect such interest and as such EU datacenters were accounted for but were well past that.

I could probably write twice as much about whole WTFast problems and all that but then probably nobody would want to read that bottom line if this was some backwater company with tight budget id probably understand but SE is nowhere near one of those so if those Datacenters arent on the horizon please let us know at least id probably spend those money on some other game that doesnt come with connection issues and nescessity to use VPN in order to play it.

Totally understanding your situation, as another sad exemple, my raid team that is composed of 3 Italians, 2 Spanishs, 2 Norwegians and 1 French we are all experiencing disconnections during raid every time xD and no matter if most of us use a VPN, the usual "fast and normal internet" but getting 90002 randomly is happening waaaaaay too much (and seems to love happening during last phase of Bahamut lately xD dat troll).

What I'm wondering is how they will handle players with the delivered result, moving servers to EU is a thing but what about all of the players who did choose to play on a server like Ragnarok as an example but play from Canada, in a way they are going to experience our currant situation :x I wouldn't wish it to my worst enemy to be honest :3.
This is maybe why it take so long to become real.

Yes its bout time to get info on this though I think I heard bout something like they try to get it running with expansion *hopes*

That's so odd. I'm from the Netherlands and rarely have any issues. Sometimes my ping is the same as someone in the US. Sometimes it's a little more delayed. But it's barely noticeable.
I did remove my PC latency though and that helps A LOT. Click here. There's a manual way (is what I did) and a handy little executable.

Nevertheless, if a server is tagged as EU, it should be in the EU. ^^

Yea that is generally the issue someone said something somewhere someday and such Nothing certain when you look at most of the popular Western MMOs out there they all have those servers in EU it almost goes without saying and i cant see why we should expect any less given the successful relaunch of this one.

For when this was announced. They annouced it during the keynote of the EU Fanfest in London. That was the first official announcement of setting up an EU datacenter. Before that it was mostly we are still looking into it. So it hasn't been half a year yet but getting there.

The EU servers were always marked with EU next to them. Thus I expect them to move those to the EU datacenter. Will it suck for players that are not in the EU but playing on them? Yes. But at the same time there are EU players that are highly invested in their FCs and friends and so on and other things on those servers that deserve to be able to keep playing together under the conditions of a proper EU datacenter.

This becomes unacceptable unless they also offer FULL FC transfers with housing and inventory(and personal inventory and personal rooms). There are limits to what the servers transfers allow.

And while I feel the pain of some players with lag and such from the EU I always point out that there are those of us that play on the PS4 that don't have access to the solutions the people on PC have to bypass and yet we still do fine with content.

Eagerly awaiting news on this as well, I only decided to give FF XIV a serious try after the EU DC announcement. From what I read at some point, don't remember the source, sorry, it should be at some point after 3.0. I guess we should count ourselves lucky if it's gonna happen this year.
The 500ish ms lag is quite terrible (compared to 20-30ms I'm used to for EU based games/servers) but at least with the 2.5 GCD it's not a total deal breaker.

We can hope they put out a statement with date and details on how it's gonna be handled soon but I wouldn't be surprised if we had to wait for around 3.0 for any more news.

They explicitly stated at the London fan fest that the new EU datacentre would be accompanying the 3.0 launch. I agree that some further information on the transition would be helpful though; especially for those who aren't in the EU.
