They explicitly stated at the London fan fest that the new EU datacentre would be accompanying the 3.0 launch. I agree that some further information on the transition would be helpful though; especially for those who aren't in the EU.

I'm afraid they did not. People who watched the live stream know they said they plan it to go live after 3.0 hits the shelves. They never said EU servers would be available at 3.0 launch. It would be nice if it would and we'd get an official statement about it though.

I also wonder how this will affect the non EU group on the EU servers. It's going to be a hot topic for sure.

The thing is pplz are tired of lags, delays and disconnets. They want to know if its worth to endure and wait for EU servers or its time to move on.

Seems they left all the good stuff for the 3.0 launch. If this is true SE will release all its bad dogs at the same time. 3.0 expansion, DX11 client and the EU datacenters.

That's so odd. I'm from the Netherlands and rarely have any issues. Sometimes my ping is the same as someone in the US. Sometimes it's a little more delayed. But it's barely noticeable.
I did remove my PC latency though and that helps A LOT. Click here. There's a manual way (is what I did) and a handy little executable.

Nevertheless, if a server is tagged as EU, it should be in the EU. ^^

No matter where the servers are located (unless they are regional), you'll never play with less than 200ms unless you bypass the windows double check, it has its consequences tho.

As EU player i will keep playing on a NA server, the result is the same if you have a decent ISP.

I would also like more information on this. I play on an NA server, simply because I saw no real difference between the two server types when both are hosted in America. Having only recently hit 50, I have so far not come across much I cannot deal with. But I have no doubt there will come a point (and quite possibly soon) where the cast time is simply too short to dodge half a second in advance, and at that point I will be dropping my subscription. For what it's worth, FFXIV has actually been a wonderfully refreshing experience, so I'd very much like to keep playing and supporting the project! Let's get some details please!

The thing is that changes nothing about it being only announced two months ago. Data centers are expensive, take a ton of time to setup, debug, and test. Would you rather they rush and the servers be unstable or in a poor data center?

They didn't say anything about when the servers would be launched at the Fan Fest. Just that they are coming.

I'd like more information too, mainly on when we can expect them to launch and how the transition from the Canadian to European servers will be handled for players.

it actually would behoove them to NOT have the EU data center and expansion launch simultaneously.
There's just way, WAY too much that can go wrong all at once for that to be a good idea.
